section Step II. Check the students’ answers: (Group work) Films can be something to get oneself away from frustration, isolation and desperation, meanwhile, they make your days meaningful, colorful and fruitful. My memory of the first moves I saw is still clear after all these years. When I was only a boy around 10, the first foreign film I saw was a comedy called Robinhood, in which the hero punished bad and cruel people with his sward of justice, leaving us roars of laughters. It was likely the first reason why I loved movies of that kind at the time. Later as a teenager, a French comedy masterpiece, Narrow Escape, strengthened my preference to such funny and entertaining type of film. It did leave me a great period of joyful time. However, it doesn’t mean that I only watch films of this kind. As I was exposed to more films later, especially because of my major in English at college, I gradually developed some interest in some thrillers dealing with crimes, spies and other tight plots, among which my favorite was Italian Job. Occasionally, I even watched some terrifying horror movies, though not so much to my taste. Not only the characters cast by famous actors or actresses but also the settings based in ancient Rome or modern China could be the reasons why I felt so good about some movies. I started to collect information about movies, old or new, home or abroad. During this process, I also collected many posters of the films that I had watched, enjoying the beautiful pictures with the names of the movies, directors and leading actors or actresses. There is no doubt that it has become an important section of my life, full of laughters and tears, excitement and development. During the 1990s, many commercial movies were made, which brought action movies, disaster movies and science fictions to rooftop. True Lie, Broken Arrow, Airforce One, Twister, Volcano, and Jurassic Park were produced in leaps and bounds, just like overnight. My interest in films expanded fast: from watching serious Ben Hur

(9 Oscar winners) to crying over moving August Rush; from viewing fierce and violent human eater shark in Jaws to appreciating eloquent (有口才的) and convincing argument in Philadelphia; from seeing graceful ballet in Sleeping Beauty to admiring brave world-saver in The Fifth Element.

Five years ago, I dramatically found myself addicted to some series like Prison Break, Hero,

24 Hours and The Desperate Wives from American channels like FOX, ABC, and ESPN, which gave me more opportunities to explore the world of movies. And hopefully, my journey of movies will make the rest of my life more relaxing, interesting and amusing.
