Subjunctive mood

Teaching aims 1.

To understand and learn to use the subjunctive mood in if-clause. 2.

to observe and summarize the sentence structures of if-clause in the subjunctive mood. 3.

to improve students’ observation of English and promote students’ cooperation spirit.

Key points and difficult points 1). To guide the students observe and summarize the sentence structures of if-clause in the subjunctive mood. 2). To guide the students to translate and make sentences with if-clause in the subjunctive mood.

Description of the students

Most of them are from 15 to 18. Their English level is very poor. Therefore, the explanation should be simple and easy to understand.

Teaching procedures

Step 1 lead-in

Ask students to observe the differences between the following sentences: 1. If he had a choice, he would want to be a sparrow rather than a snail. 2. If I have a chance, I will buy a car.

Presentation

Present the learning objectives of this lesson 1.

To learn the structures of if-clause in the subjunctive mood; 2.

2. To use if-clause in the subjunctive mood to talk about the present, the future and the past.

Step3 Observation and Thinking

Ask the students to observe the following sentences and conclude their use and structure. 1.

If I were him, I would not use a mobile phone in class. 2.

If I had a lot of money now, I would help some poor people. 3.

If it were winter holiday tomorrow, I could go to travel. 4.

If you had been in our history class, you would have found history very boring.

I will divide the students into 4 group. After 5mins , I will ask the captain to conclude. Then check the answers. If 型虚拟语气主从句谓语

从句谓语：过去式

主句：should/could/might/ (be用were) would + do 与过去事实相反

与将来事实相反

从句：过去完成时

从句：过去式/should do/
