Teaching Plan I. Teaching aims: At the end of this class, the students will: 1.

be aware of the layout, cohesive words and sentence patterns while writing. 2.

be able to write a composition about their favorite seasons. 3.feel the beauties of nature, and be encouraged to love and protect our nature.

IV. Teaching procedures

Step 1. Lead-in Let students listen to the poem---You Are My Four Seasons, and find out the typical things in different seasons. Purpose：To introduce the topic ‘ The season I like best’. Step2.Topic exploring

Help students find out the main points and the requirements that should be kept in mind while writing this composition.

Step3. Input words and phrases 1.

Discuss with students to figure out the aspects they can write about their favorite seasons. 2.

Ask students to take a journey of four seasons(watch pictures), and write down what they see. 3.

Group work: Divide students into four groups, and ask them to work together to choose proper words and phrases (on the learning paper)to help them express what they see.

Ask students to show the answers. Purpose: input words and phrases, and prepare students to express ideas about their favorite seasons.

Step4. Discussion 1.Ask students to discuss with each other about their favorite seasons, and explain reasons by using the words and phrases they have just got. 2.Ask students to express their ideas. Purpose: let students know how to use the words and phrases to express ideas though this process of output(discussion).

Step5. Explaining the layout of the composition Discuss with the students to find out how many parts should be included in this composition. Purpose: make sure students can use a clear layout in their writing.

Step 6. Sample input 1.

Ask students to read this sample composition. 2.

Analyze the main structure of this sample. 3.

Ask students to find out the cohesive words and phrase for concluding in this sample. Then, ask them to think out other cohesive words and phrases for concluding. 4.

Ask students to pay attention to the well-used sentence patterns in this sample, and arouse their awareness of using rich and varied sentence patterns in writing.

Purpose: help students understand the elements needed to write a good composition: clear structure, proper cohesive words and rich and varied sentence patterns. Step 7. Writing Ask students to write ‘The season I like best’ by themselves.

Step 8. Work sharing. Ask students to share their work, and evaluate the shown work. Step9. Arouse students’

sense of responsibility to love and protect nature. Step10. Homework.
