Unit 4 Legends of ancient Greece Teaching aims

At the very beginning, I will show some related pictures such as the pictures of Athene, Europa, Zeus and Hera to arouse students attention in this class. And i will give them some questions on the power point. Such as ‘how many legends do you know about ancient Greece? Then let them have a free talk with those questions. Step 2 pre-reading

Let students look at the title Legends of ancient Greece and guess what they will read next and let them read this passage as quickly as possible and predict the difficulties they may come across in this reading. Step 3 while-reading

Activity 1: I will give students some questions such as ‘what is the theme of this passage? What is your understanding of this passage? What can you learn from this passage?’. and let students read this passage with those questions by themselves to develop their reading skill skimming. Activity 2: I will divided the whole class in to 4 groups, and the key words of this passage to develop their reading skill scanning.

By this way, they can get the general idea easily. Activity 3: I will invite some group members to do a report of their work to the whole class. Activity 4: I will let students to ask the difficulties of this reading and discuss in groups first. Then I will explain to them and analyze the new grammar and correct their pronunciation. Step 4 post-reading I will invite some students to do speeches in front of the classroom by using the new words and phrases and the new grammar. If they do a good job i will say great to them and give them some presents as rewards. Step 5 Exercise
