Improve the students’ writing ability.

Teaching Procedures: Step 1: leading-in T plays a short video for students and lets them guess the country’s name. Step 2: revision T help ss to review some general information of New Zealand, such as its location,main islands,capital,natives,climate and so on. Step 3. reading task 1---skimming Ask ss to decide headings for each section Step 4. reading task 2---jigsaw reading According to the content and structure of the text, ss are divided into 5 groups to do a jigsaw reading in the form of group work, which aims to develop their team-work potential and different reading abilities. Step 4. Writing task Ask ss to finish a letter of enquiry according to the text, using targeted sentence patterns which they have brainstormed with their group members. Such as Could you please tell me whether it is adj. To...? Could you please tell me where I can...? Could you please tell me what should be prepared if...? Would you please recommend a place where...? Can you give us some advice on...?

After their discussion , Ss make their first draft in class and one of them is required to share his writing in front of the whole class. T will make some comments and present ss a writing sample. Step 5. Homework Ask ss to finish their second draft after class, trying to make their own compositions perfect. Review the whole unit by sorting out their notes and referring to the text
