Teaching Plan for Unit 8 Happy birthday!

Teaching aims:1)To master the words including cake, card, noodles.

2)Help students use new words.

3)Let students know the differences of birthday cultures between western countries and China.

Main points:To master new words including cake, card, noodles and how to express when giving other people things.

Difficult point:To express correctly when giving gifts on the birthday party.

Teaching aids:Cards, pictures, multimedia, small blackboard, real items. Teaching procedures:

Step I Greeting

Greet the whole class.

Step II Warming-up

The teacher shows the pictures of balloons and ask students what are these?

Step III Leading-in

1. Tell students listen to the birthday song and after the song, let students guess what song it is.

2. Announce that “today we are going to learn new lesson about birthday and write down the title of this unit.

Step IV Presentation

1. New words

1) The teacher shows some pictures including cake, card, noodles. Write down the new words “cake”, “card” and “noodles”.

2) Get the class to repeat the new words after the teacher several times.

3) Use different cards to practice the new words.

a. Ask the students to speak out the words when showing the pictures.

b. Ask the students to speak out the words when showing the phonetic symbols.

c. Ask the students to spell out the words when showing the pictures.

4) Put pictures on the blackboard and then let students match the new words and pictures.

2. New sentence patterns

1) Show one picture of Alice’s birthday, tell students when give other people things, we can use “Here’s …for you” then write down the pattern on the blackboard.

2) Let one student act giving cards on the birthday party with teacher.

Step V Practice

Pair work. Ask students to talk about giving things in pairs to

practice the new pattern and then ask several pairs to present their dialogues.

Step VI Consolidation

Sing English birthday song together.

Step VII Summary

The teacher summarize the knowledge of this class including words “cake”, “card”, “noodles” and sentence“Here’s a card for you.”

Step VIII Homework

Sing the birthday song to family.
