设计思想：依据《高中英语新课程标准》中提出的理念：“高中英语课程应根据高中学生认知特点和学习发展需要，在进一步发展学生基本语言运用能力的同时；.....逐步培养学生用英语进行思维和表达的能力；为学生进一步学习和发展创造必要的条件”，并根据语篇文本特点，设计和实施一堂阅读理解及词汇认读课

内容分析：本节课内容为Book 6 Module 5的第一节课Introduction & Reading，学生学习内容包括“原著简介与节选”。该语篇生词量适中，“人造人”话题能吸引学生兴趣，但文体特征不够显著，因此在具体教学设计时，教师将本节课学生学习任务定为理解文本，同时兼顾少量vocabulary的学习。

学情分析：文章整体难度对高二下学生来说基本适中，但学生对文本内容相关的背景知识了解相对较少、加上文本的时空与场景跨越幅度也比较跳跃，既有描写，又穿插感叹，对学生面临的挑战较大。

教学目标：通过学习本课，学生能基本了解文章结构，理解语篇所述科学怪人的故事，通过对故事的理解，

从中体会到行善与从恶的唯物主义人生观哲理。同时，对语篇中出现的以下生词，做到能够认读即可：murder, emotion, murder, chase, contrast, disgust, terrified, nightmare等。
