Unit 1 Welcome back to school! 单元分析:

本单元以“国家”为主题,学习一些常见国家名词及介绍国籍或籍贯的表达方式。通过本单元的学习,学生能听懂、会说3个句型:I’m from…Where are you from?

Welcome! 能听说认读8个国家及代词词汇,并能够掌握元音字母a在单词中的短音发音。

学情分析:

我校学生通过两年半的英语学习,对本单元的词汇并不陌生,尤其是字母缩写类国家名称及人称代词he,she,职业teacher,student等。对于I’m…及Where引导的疑问句句型较为熟悉,语音方面对于a在单词中的发音非常熟悉,但还不系统。因此,在本单元授课过程中,应注意帮助学生能够四会单词,熟练掌握句型,可适当拓展。语音方面需帮助学生逐渐提升拼读的能力。

课时划分:

本单元计划划分为6个课时,用时两周。具体安排如下:

Lesson 1 A Let’s learn + Let’s chant

Lesson 2 A Let’s talk + Look and say + B Let’s sing Lesson 3 A Let’s spell

Lesson 4 B Let’s learn + Let’s chant+ start to read+ Let’s check

Lesson 5 B Let’s talk + Look and say Lesson 6 Revision+ C Story time

Lesson One Class profile: The students have already learnt the letters before. So it’s not very hard for them to remember the words in the short form. But the sentence ‘I’m from…’is new for them. Contents:

Words: UK, USA, Canada, China Sentence: I’m from …

Let’s chant

Class type: Lexis Teaching aims: To listen, speak and read the words: UK, USA, Canada, and China pronounce them correctly; To say the chant with correct pronunciation and proper intonation. To talk about the countries with the sentence pattern “I’m from….”

To know the basic culture of these countries. Teaching Key points:

Ss can understand, speak and read the new words. Teaching Difficulties:

The ‘the’ before the UK and USA

in the sentence ‘I’m from…’. The capital letter of the countries’ name.

Approaches:

Situational method, communicative method Teaching aids:

Blackboard, PPT, stickers, ball. Teaching procedures: 1.

Warm-up Greetings. Welcome ss back to school! T gives the characters in this book, and let ss find two new friends in this year. Ss: Amy & Zhang Peng. 2.

Presentation & Practice 1)

T shows the picture of Amy and the Big Ben, then lets ss guess where Amy is from. T writes down the sentence ‘I’m from…’ and let ss say “Hi! I’m Amy. I’m from the UK.”

T introduces the country: UK. The map and the flag of the UK will be presents on the ppt. Then T talks about the flag and the four parts of UK. Differ the differences between UK and England. Then show the full name of the UK.

T shows the picture of Mike and the CN tower, then lets ss guess where Mike is from. The Ss may not guess the right answer. T will give the answer “Canada”, and write it on the blackboard. T needs to lead ss pay attention to the ‘a’ sounds in ‘Canada’ which are different. Culture of Canada will be mentioned also. 4)

T shows the picture of Sarah and the Statue of liberty, then lets ss

guess where Sarah is from. The “USA” part should be same as the “UK”.

T shows the picture of Wu Yifan and the Great wall, then lets ss guess where Wu Yifan is from. T will emphasize the china and China.

Listen and match. Each of the places has an audio, ss listen to the audio and match the correct words on the ppt. 7)

Watch and say. T plays a video about more countries and encourages ss to say the countries out. 8)

Let’s chant.

Self-introduction. T plays the music and let ss pass the ball. When the music stops, the s1 should stand up and introduce where is he/she from. The sentence will be provided as ‘I’m… I’m from…’. Ss can add the country or the hometown after ‘from’.

Production The winter holiday is coming, our school has a international winter camp, do you want to come? Now, you need to fill in the student cards first.

Then change the cards with your desk mate, and try to introduce the person according to the blank. Then T invites some pairs to show in the front.

4. Wrap up

Do you know these countries? T shows a world map and let ss find the countries we learnt in this class. And talk about more countries with ss. 5. Homework Copy sentences two times and words five times, then add the translation. Try to introduce yourself in three sentence (name, age, nationality). Hospital: Liu Xin-China, Lily-Canada Zoo: Panda-Sichuan, Duck-Hunan, Bear-Gansu Try to act the doctors or animals, and make own dialogue, then show in the front. Extension Exercises for this lesson. Homework 1.

Lesson Three Class profile: The students have already learnt the letter a and sound before. Most of them can say the sound and spell the words. So it’s not very hard for them to learn the letter and sound in this lesson. As a result, in this lesson, the students need more extension. 2) Let’s spell with desk mate, say the words two by two. 3) Let’s chant. Ss listen the chant for one time, and repeat after teacher, then chant with the audio.

4) Game: word spelling machine. Encourage ss to spell the words loudly.

T invites ss to come to front and act like the animals and introduce themselves like: I’m a panda. I’m from China.

2. Presentation + Practice

(1) T asks ss who acts the animal “Where are you from?” and encourage ss to answer with “I’m from…”.

(2) Guess the country. S1 takes one animal picture. Ss: Where are you from? S1 act the animal. S2: You are from… S1: Yes/No.

S3: You are from… S1: Yes/No.

(3) Wu Yifan is talking with a teacher and a new student. Listen and answer the questions. Q1: Who are they? Q2: Where is Amy from? Q3: Do Mr Jones and Amy know each other? How do you know? (4)T plays the audio and ss number the sentences.

(5) Ss listen and repeat after the audio. (6) Role play. Three in a group and do the role play. Then T invites some groups to show. 3. Production
