Reviewing new words First, let the students read the new words of page 7&8. Step two

Warming up

Play a small game with my students. In the game, they are going to see some pictures. At the same time, they are required to guess the places of the pictures and try to figure out the relationship among people. Step three Reading and discussion Ask my students to read the email on page7 and then discuss some questions. T: Ladies and gentlemen, now I have a small question. What would you like to talk about when you teenagers get together?

S1: when we boys are together, we are likely to talk about sports, films, superstars and so on. S2: When my friends and I are together, we’d like to talk about anything we like, especially those things that are relaxing. ......

T: great! Then maybe you are willing to discuss two more questions. Firstly, If you are with your family members or colleagues , what would you like to talk about? 3, When you are at a formal occasion, what topics are good choices to start a small talk with a stranger? After their discussion, the students will be encouraged to share their ideas freely. Step four

During this part, students are to enjoy some good materials about small talk via Internet.Then they are required to think about how to start a small talk with different kinds of people as well as what kind of good topics they can use in the small talk. . Reflection Have a thorough reflection about this class and summarize some good experience.
