教学设计五(下)Unit4 When is Easter? The third period (A. L et’s spell )

Step1.Warm-up.

1.Free talk.

Hello, boys and girls. How are you ?

What’s the weather like today?

Step3.Presentation

1. Sing a song: “When is your bir th day?”

2. Teach the word: th ree.

Ask students their bir th day with the sentence: “When is your bir th day?”.

Then talk about the teacher’s bir th day with the sentence: “My bir th day is in th ree more days.”

Use PPT to show students a calendar to help them understand the phrase:”th ree more days”. Then teach the word: th ree.

3.Teach the word: th irteen.

Show students the old friend: John, and tell students When his birthday is. Show students a sentence: He will be th irteen. Then teach the word.

4. Teach the word: th in.

Tell students John is thirteen but he is not tall. He’s short and th in. Teach the word.

5. Teach the word: ma th s.

John is thin, but he’s smart. He’s good at ma th s. Teach the word.

Then listen to the recording and repeat the four words.

6. Let’s check and find.

Ask students to read the four words and find out the same point of the words. Summarize the pronunciation of the letters: th →/θ/ and teach students how to pronounce the sound: /θ/.

Show students some other words: th ird, fif th. th ank, bir th day.

And ask them to try to read them out according to the pronunciation rule.

7.Teach the words: th is, th at, mo th er, bro th er th →/ð/

(1)With the word “bir th day” show students a bir th day cake and ask them to guess whose bir th day it is. Students guess that is Sarah’s .

Sing a song for Sarah’s bir th day.

(2)Use the family picture to teach the four words: th is, th at, mo th er, bro th er Ask students to read the words and listen to the recording and repeat the four words. Summarize the pronunciation of the four words: th →/ð/

Show students some other words: fa th er, th ey. And ask them to try to read them out according to the pronunciation rule.

Step3. Practice & Consolidation.

(1)) Listen and circle .

Ask students to review the words and then they listen and circle.

check the answers.

(2)Find their home& Choose, write and say.

.Show students some other words and ask them try to classify them with the pronunciation rules.

Then choose some words to make sentences.

eg. Words: Thursday , eleventh

Thursday is his eleventh birthday.

Students open their books, then choose the words and write them down .After that check their work.

(4) Have a chant.

Students listen to the chant first.

Students chant together.

Step4. Summary

Summarize the main points of this class.

Step5.Homework

1. Listen to the recording and read the words.

2. Find more words including “th” and read them.
