Lesson19:Christmas Is Coming!
一、教学目标
1. 知识目标:
(1)能听懂、会说、认读并书写下列词汇“holiday, bring, give, song”。
(2)能认读、理解并运用下列句子“Christmas is a western holiday. They bring gifts for us. We sing Christmas songs.”
2. 能力目标:
能够听懂有关圣诞节的描述,并运用所学语言知识简单介绍圣诞节相关的活动。
3. 情感目标:通过本课的学习,了解西方节日,体会中西方文化的差异,培养更好的国际意识。
教学重、难点
教学重点:
1.掌握下列词汇“holiday, bring, give, song”。
2. 灵活运用下列等句型对圣诞节进行介绍“Christmas is a western holiday. They bring gifts for us. We sing Christmas songs…”
教学难点:运用所学语言知识简单介绍圣诞节相关的活动。

教学光盘,幻灯片,自制单词卡片(Christmas, holiday, bring, give, song) 四、教学过程
Step 1 : Warming up
1. Greeting
T: Hello, boys and girls!
Ss: Hello, teacher!
T: How are you today?
Ss: Very well, thanks.
2. Talking and lead in
T: Let’s talk about today. How’s the weather?
Ss: It’s_____.
T: What’s the date? (show the date on PPT)
Ss: It’s _____, _________.
T: What season is it?
Ss: It’s_____.
T: Do you like____?
Ss: Yes./ No.
T: I like winter. Why? Because I like the Spring Festival. Do you like it? Ss: Yes.
T: (Show pictures about Spring Festival) Say something about the Spring Festival.eg: What do you do on Spring Festival?
Ss: I wear my new clothes./ I get lucky money…
T: In December, there is a holiday. Do you know it?
Ss: Christmas.
T: Let’s learn something about it in this lesson. Write down the title on blackboard. Use the word card to introduce the new word.
Ss: Read it with teacher.
【设计意图:用谈话交流的方式制造多个话轮,通过中国传统节日春节把话题引向圣诞节,不断的激发学生已有的知识储备,从而导入新课。】
Step 2 : New concepts
T: What’s Christmas? Let’s listen to Jenny. Play audiotape for part 1. Ss: Listen with the pictures for the first time. Then try to answer “ Christmas is a western holiday.”
T: Teach “holiday” with card.
Ss: Recognize “ho” with “hot”, then spell it, try to read.
T: Spring Festival is a Chinese holiday, but Christmas is a western holiday. Use PPT to introduce “western”.
Ss: Repeat the words with teacher.
T: When is Christmas? (Use PPT to show calendar)
Ss: Say the date.
T: We have lanterns on Spring Festival. What do they have at Christmas? Let’s listen again. (Play audiotape for the second time)
Ss: Listen to the tape with the question. Try to answer with “Christmas tree, Christmas lights, Santa”
T: Write down the key words on blackboard. Show pictures of them on PPT, introduce them with some sentences in the text.
Ss: Read the sentences.
T: Introduce “bring”with card first, then use the picture and flash of
Santa.
Ss: Read the word with “spring”, then look at the flash and picture, understand “bring”. Make some examples to demonstrate the word. Eg: I bring this book for ____.
T: What do they do at Christmas? Do they do these? ( use PPT to show some sentences ) Let’s find in the text.
Ss: Read the sentences first, then listen to the tape, underline the key words on book. Choose the correct sentences.
T: Check the answers. Teach the key word “give” with card.
Ss: Compare with “live”, try to read it.
T: Use some small cards to say “I bring these gifts for you. Now I give____ a gift. (Give one card for the volunteer did best). Show the pictures of the text to demonstrate “bring and give”again.
Ss: Try to use the sentences to introduce the pictures. Eg: They ring gifts for us. We give our family and friends gifts, too.
T: What else?
Ss: They sing Christmas songs.
T: Yes. Can you sing a song? Teach “song” with card.
Ss: Read with “long”, sing a song they know.
T: Let’s listen to a Christmas song. Show the song on PPT.
Ss: Listen to it.
【设计意图:先从整体入手引导学生接触文本,大概了解圣诞节以及它的时间,再引导学生反复接触文本,每次接触文本有针对性的安排听的任务,并在文本语境中解决本课的重点词汇和句型,结合文本外的再造语境加深理解,做到以文本为主,课内外有效结合。】Step 3: Practice
1.Let’s do it
T: Do you know the Christmas very well? Let’s check.
Ss: Read the questions in part 2. Then read the text together. Find out the answers. Match the sentences. Discuss in groups like this: Group leader ask the questions, the other members answers. Check the answers with different groups, ask and answer.
2.More drill
T: Show some exercise on PPT.
Ss: Try to fill in the blanks with the key words in this lesson. (on paper) 3.Introduction
T: Check the answers. Then show some pictures about Christmas, help them to discuss with the key words have given.
Ss: Try to introduce Christmas with the pictures and key words. Do this in groups. Show with groups. (Everyone needs to say something with the picture)
【设计意图:有层次的训练本节课的重点内容,用课本上简单的连线检验学生对圣诞节基本知识的了解;用填空的形式反馈学生对重点词汇的掌握程度,最后用看图说话的形式促进学生综合语言运用能力的提升。】
Step 4: Closing
T: Sum up Christmas with the key words on blackboard.
Ss: Sum up with teacher.
T: Show some pictures on PPT to introduce more western holidays. Ss: Recognize the holiday, say the name if they can.
【设计意图:在课堂结束时总结本课的重点内容,给学生示范良好的学习方法和策略;以更多的西方节日结束结束本节课,让学生感受浓厚的西方文化氛围,并对英语课堂感觉意犹未尽。】
