Teaching Objectives:

Through reading related passages on Chinese characters and analyzing sentence structures, students will be able to

(1) tell the legend of famous Chinese legends and myths by using verbs in their right forms;

(2) strengthen self-confidence of Chinese culture and develop interest in learning English well to spread Chinese culture to all over the world.

Through reading related passages on Chinese characters and analyzing sentence structures, students will be able to tell the legend of famous Chinese legends and myths by using verbs in their right forms;

Through analyzing sentence structures, students will be able to use verbs in their right forms;

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in (5 minutes)

1. showing the learning aims and ask students to talk about the Chinese ancient stories that they have known.

2. Dub a vedio about the legend of Hou Yi shooting the suns.

Step 2 Reading and Filling in the blanks(16miniutes) 1. Teacher asks Ss to read Passage one: A legend of Hou Yi shooting the suns and fill in the blanks by using the verbs in right form. 2. Teacher asks Ss to check the answers by analyzing each sentence structures and summary the usage of verbs in a chart.

Step3 Practice:(10minutes) 1. Teacher asks Ss to work in groups and do the task of passage two: Shen Nong tastes a hundred grasses. and apply to the knowledge summarized in step two.

2. Teacher asks Ss to check the answers by analyzing each sentence

structures.

Step4 Summary(1minute) Teacher ask Ss to summarize the usage of verbs by using the mind map on the blackboard.
