①Analysis of teaching material

Book vision: PEP

The book has six units and each unit has eight parts which are Starter、Lesson1-3、Let's Spell、Let's Check、Fun Time and Story Time. Today i am gonna to make a speech about Starter and Lesson1 in Unit4“Pets”.

②Analysis of students

The characteristics of students in grade three are lively、Curious、and active. They are fond of preforming and are interested in animals. As for knowledge, they have already learned some words of colors、facial features and animals. And they have already mastered the sentence to ask about people’s appearance: what does he/she look like? And the sentence to describe people’

appearance such as : He is handsome/pretty/short/fat. So I will associate to the knowledge learned in grade two when I teach the new words and sentences.



Master words of pet、adjective and functional sentence.

Handle the functional sentences of asking and describing the appearance of pets and use in different language situations and learn to work in groups.

⑦ Teaching procedure

Before my class I required the students to preview Starters and Lesson 1.

Step1. Greeting：Daily communication

T：Good morning students, how’s the weather today?

S: Good morning teacher, it’

s sunny today.

Step2. Show the picture of panda and describe it to students: panda is the animal which can’t be raised at home.(be raise at the zoo) Bring out the topic "Pets"----animal which can be raised at home.

Step3. Animal Brainstorming

Students may come up with many animals such as : fox, elephant, dog, rabbit, squirrel, tiger, monkey, snake,duck and so on. And then I will classify those animals to two types: at the Zoo or at Home.

Step4. Guess and Chant

1.I will play the sound of dog、duck、chicken、snake and bird. And then let students guess and then bring in these words.

2.I will show parts of picture of rabbit and turtle, Let students guess and then bring in these words.

3.Play the chant in lesson 1 two times to let the students make overall perceptions of the text. Then guide the student to sing with the chant.

Step5.

I. Play the video of Starter two times, and make some Q&A:

Where are they?

What are they doing?

What does he/she look like?

II. Review: Words of color, adjectives

III. Read by groups or read by boys/girls.

Step6. Let's play

a. Playing video of lesson1 B for two times, and lead the students to think how to ask the appearance of pets.

b.

c. Grouping the students into 8 groups, and give them some cards of pets then let them practice describing one's pets.

d. Choose some groups to preform.

Step7. Homework

1. Describe favorite pets to parents.

2. Finish section C: let’s write.
