Part1 Teaching material

This material is chosen from Starting Line English, book 5A, Unit5 lesson2 Clothes.This Unit is about the clothes which we wear in our daily life. Lesson 2 is mainly talking about the clothes we should wear in different weather. Such topic is related to Ss’ daily life, It will raise their learning interests and improve their language abilities.

Part2 Student’s analysis

The students are in Grade Three. They have already learned English two years. They are active and curious about new things. They like playing and acting. But sometimes they can’t express themselves well in English. So it is necessary to supply them with real situation.

Ability objective:Using the target language to describe the pets. Emotion objective:As to the emotion objective, the most important thing is to help Ss love pets.

Situational teaching method and task based teaching method will be used in this lesson. What’s more Self motivated and Cooperative learning strategies will be required in this lesson.

Part6:teaching procedures

Step 1: Warm up

1.Greeting

2.sing a song.

Ss can see some clothes from the video such as coat, sweater, cap, trousers and gloves.(This step help Ss review the words we have learned.)

Step2 :lead in

1.Firstly lead in the wardrobe:There are so many clothes in Ann’s wardrobe.Do you want some clothes for your wardrobes. If Ss can work hard they can get clothes for their wardrobe.(It is a natural lead in of competitive mechanism. And the wardrobe will be used in latter practice step.)

2.Lead in the text.Our friend Ann is getting up.But she didn’t know what to wear. Guide Ss to observe the picture and answer the questions:Oh , children look! What can you see? And think What will they talk?(This step trains Ss talking and imagination skills.)

Step3:presentation

1.Firstly watch and answer the questions:What clothes should Ann wear?(This step trains Ss’listening and understanding skills.)After listening we can find Ann should wear sweater,coat,cap and gloves. 2.Secondly listen and repeat.At first time listen without seeing the words,At second time listen with seeing the words.9This step trains Ss listening, pronunciation and imitation skills.)

3.Thirdly role play:Ss will work in group and practice the dialogue one is Mum and another is Ann, after discussion they will display it in front of class.(This step trains Ss’ cooperation and speaking skills.)

4.At last: Retell the story according to PPT and blackboard.(This step will check if Ss understand this text.)

Step 4 Practice

1.Firstly play a guessing game: Can you guess what is it?Oh,it’s a coat.(It will raise Ss’ interest and review the words.)

2.Secondly group work:Ss will work in 6,each group will get a file pocket .There is a picture of a season.They will discuss in groups according to the key sentence patters then choose clothes to wear.Just like this.(This step is a combined training of cooperation,speaking and speaking skills.)

3.Thirdly:look and say.practice the dialogue according to the PPT.(This step will help Ss to use target language in real situation.)

4.At last :Fill the clothes plan blank.(Writing skill is trained in this step.) Step5 Summary情感教育

Get a short summary of the sentence patterns we have learned.Help Ss to know that Mum do a lot for us, we should love our Mum and help our Mum.
