1. Able to grasp new words: a country, National Day, and understand Singapore, mark, founding. 2. Able to understand and speak the dialogue. 3. Able to use “ When is your country’s National Day?” to ask other’s about their National Day. 4. Cultivate students’ international awareness.

教学步骤：

Step 1. Warming up 1． Greetings. 2． Free talk: T: Who’s on duty today? What’s the date today?

Ss: ….. S1: When is your birthday? S2: My birthday is on….

Step 2. Presentation and drill 1. Show a map of the world. T: Look! What’s this?

Ss: It’s map.

T: Yes, it’s a map of the world. There are many countries in the map.

Could you tell me some names of the countries? Ss: China, America……. T: Who can search out Singapore in the map? Write “ a country, search”

2. Show a picture of celebrating National Day. T: When is your birthday? S1: It’s on the ….

S2: It’s on the ….. T: When is our country’s birthday?

Ss: China’s birthday is on October 1st.

T: Yes, you’re right. China’s birthday is our National Day. (Write “ National Day”) What are the Chinese people doing in the picture? Oh, they ‘re gathering together and celebrating the National Day. Step 3. Practice. 1. Show picture of Part A. Listen to the tape, then answer the questions. 2. Listen to the tape, and repeat. 3. Read in groups. 4. Read in roles. Step 4. Consolidation 1.
