Objectives:

Be able to pronounce and understand the following words and phrases: bedroom, bathroom, dining room, living room, study, kitchen.

Be able to ask and answer about people’s home:

A: Where is the father?

Ability objectives 1）Be able to ask about home and direction of family members. 2）Improve the listening and speaking ability. 3.

Moral objectives

Learn to talk with others about family members and home.

Contents: Words: bedroom, bathroom, dining room, living room, study, kitchen. Sentences:

A: Where is the father?

B: He’s in the study. Focal points:

1）Be able to master the key meanings of the conversations. 2）Be able to ask directions of family members.

Difficult points: Be able to master the key meanings of the conversations.

Procedures and Time Allotment Stage 1

Greeting and leading-in

(3 mins) T: Good morning, everyone! Ss: ... T: Nice to meet you!

Ss: ... T: Last class, we learned about the family activities. Now can you sing the song about family members?

(The Ss review with the words and sentence structure about family members) Then Ss finish the family tree and review the sentence “This is my mother”. After that, sing the song about family activities in Unit5.

Stage 2 Presentation

(12 mins)

Guide students to learn the new words and sentence structures. T: Ok. Now you can introduce family activities. Where can members do in home..

Ss: ... T: For example, my mother is cooking dinner. Ss: ...(Follow T) T: My mother is cooking dinner in the kitchen. Ss: ...in the kitchen. T: Good! How about the father? Ss: ... T: Good job. We can use the words and sentences to introduce family members. Draw the picture about words on the blackboard, repeat the new words. After that,read the new words and then the words are missing. Let Ss remember the words and find the missing words. Finally, show the video about my home and the do the practice.

Stage 3 Practice

(15 mins)

Guide students to practice the words and sentence structures. T: Ok. Boys and girls, look at the picture and tell me, where is the mother? Ss: ... T: She is in the kitchen. She is cooking dinner in the kitchen. Ss: ... ( pair work to practice the sentence structure: Where is my grandmother? She is in the bedroom. She is watering the plants.) Next, show the video again and then let Ss play the video. Let’s be the boy and the girl in the video.

Stage 4 Production

(6 mins) Guide the students to role-play the A part.

T: Now, let’s be the boy and the girl in the video. Ss: ...

(They should first, role-play it sentence by sentence. They work in pairs. Then, show up.) And then introduce their family member to their partners.

Stage 5 Emotional education

(3 mins) T:Boys and girls, do you love your family? Ss: ... T: So if you are free,please do something for you family, Ok? Ss: ...

Stage 6 Homework

(1 mins) I give them 2 task.

Read the new words and phrases with your partner.

Draw a simple picture of your home. Next class, we can talk about it.
