Discussion 5. Teaching Aids Multi-media and other necessary materials. 6. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Lead in (4 mins) 1)Show students several pictures of King Arthur, Sir Gawain and Round Table as well as some brief introduction in case some students know little about the background knowledge. And then show them some unfamiliar words to them.

2) Show them a picture including the four main characters and let students guess what they are.

Step 2 Skimming (5mins) Read and listen to the story. Order the sentences below. a)

The Green Knight didn’t cut off Sir Gawain’s head.

Gawain went back to Camelot, but he was unhappy. c)

Sir Gawain and the lord agreed to exchange everything they received. d)

Step 4 Discussion (16 mins) 1. What do you think of Sir Gawain? Do you think he is brave/honest? Why/why not? 2. Do you think his dishonesty should be forgiven? Give your reasons. maybe you’ve done well at something in the past and feel like if you don’t continue to succeed at it in the future, you’ll let everybody down.

It’s a rare person who can walk out on all his obligations(责任) without losing himself in the process. Yet, as Gawain learns, in the end, he can be partly a truly great knight, and partly a really huge coward(懦夫), and life will still go on.
