Step 2．Grammar

Purpose：To enable Ss to master more knowledge about grammatical rules of the present perfect progressive tense．

1．Practice

Ask Ss to finish Activity 1 and Activity 2 on P34．

Suggested Answers to Activity 1：

“Liu Fang has played the pipa since the age of six” means Liu Fang still plays the pipa．

“She’s given concerts since she was eleven” means she has given concerts regularly since the age of eleven

Suggested Answers to Activity 2：

(1)In Activity 1 the grammatical form is “have／has+v—ed”，while in Activity 2，it’s

“have／has+ been+ v—ing”，which in Chinese，means“现在完成进行时”．

(2)a 2．Presentation

Give Ss some explanation of the present perfect progressive tense．

(1)现在完成进行时表示从过去开始，一直到现在的动作，这个动作可能刚刚结束，也可能还要继续下去，常与表示一段时间的状语连用。例如：

They have been working in America ever since 1999．从1999年他们就一直在美国工作。

Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you for a long time．你去哪里了?我已经找你好长时间了。

(2)现在完成进行时与现在完成时的主要区别。

曾经延续进行或目前仍在继续

②强调动作持续进行的情景

(3)应注意的是有些不能用于现在进行时的动词，如be，have，like，love，know，believe，hate等，同样也不能用于现在完成进行时，而只能用于现在完成时。有时现在完成进行时与现在完成时区别不大。

Teaching Procedures：

Step 1．Listening and Vocabulary

Purpose：To develop Ss’ ability to express emotions after listening and learn something about rhyme. 1．Listen to the passage Summertime in Activity 1 on P47．

(1)Tell Ss the background of the song．

This song is from Porgy and Bess．a folk opera by George Gershwin，which is a tragedy of love story．There have been many versions of this song．The most popular is created by Mahalia Jackson who is the Queen of Gospel Music．

(2)Let Ss predict and try to choose the correct words in Summertime．

(3)Let Ss listen to the song and check the answers．

Suggested Answers：

(4)Ask Ss to pay attention to the rhymes．

(5)Ask Ss to translate the passage．
