The Subjunctive Mood in If-clauses By Xiangyan Zou Analysis of the teaching content This is the grammar part of Module 6 in book 6, which aims to help the Ss understand the grammatical meaning of the subjunctive mood in if-clauses. After finishing this period, the Ss will be able to use the structure appropriately to express the wishes , regrets and hypothesis. Analysis of the students Having finished the learning of book 6, most of the Ss have a large vocabulary and they are eager to express their feelings and emotions. In this period, the Ss will be able to find the differences tenses in the if-clauses in the short passage and learn to use them appropriately in the given situations. Teaching objectives We are going to a. understand know meaning of the subjunctive mood in if-clause; b. know and use the different tenses in the subjunctive mood;

c. skillfully use the subjunctive mood to express a wish; d. skillfully use the subjunctive mood to express a regret. Important points in teaching
