Studying Goals：

1．To help Ss learn how to talk about the United Nations peacekeepers．

2．To enable Ss to learn how to write a film review．

3．To enable Ss to say their feelings about way．

Step 1．Revision

Check Ss’homework and give them some instruction．

Step 2．Cultural Corner

Purpose：To help Ss learn how to talk about the United Nations peacekeepers．

1．Leading-in

Ask Ss the following questions：

(1)If we suffer a lot from a war at present time，what ways do you think can help prevent the War and save the people who suffer from it?

(3)What is their duty?

Suggested Answers：

(1)Various answers are acceptable．

(2)They are the United Nations peacekeeping forces．

(3)They are from all over the world and try to keep the world peaceful．

2．Skimming

Ask Ss to skim the passage and try to find out the answers to the following questions．

(1)When did the idea of UN peacekeepers begin?

(2)Whose idea was it?

(3)When and where were the first UN peacekeepers sent?

(4)From what countries have the personnel come since 2007

Suggested answers:

(1)It began more than 60 years ago．

1．Leading-in

Show some facts and let Ss guess the name of the film．

(1)It is a film which was directed by Stephen Spielberg．

(2)It is an anti—war film．

(3)The two main characters are Captain John Miller，played by Tom Hanks，and Private James Ryan，played by Matt Damon．

4．1ndividual work

Ask Ss to choose one of their familiar film and try to make out a draft of a film review．

Onepossible version：

T／ton／c．a film directed by James Cameron，is based on a famous part of history(the night of April 15，1912)

with a doomed，fictional romance at its core．

The main characters——Jack(Leonardo DiCaprio)

and Rose(Kate Winslet)

fell in love with each other

though Jack is a D00r artist while Rose comes from an upper—class family．They encounterd on Titanic—the most luxuious ship at that time，but the ship hit the iceburg and split in two．Jack sacrificed himself SO as to save Rose fmm sure death．The tragic 1"Omanlce between Jack and Rose dominates the film although there are some subplots．

Titanic is not onlv a film．It tells more about love and life．Everyone should love life and continue to go ahead no matter whet happens．
