do the actions with you. In Chinese, tell the students to add their own names to the end of “My name is __”
Write part of the phrase on the board. Point to the words as you say them slowly a few times. Say it, please and Again, please and encourage the class to repeat the words with you several times. Tell your students in Chinese that Hi and Hello are basic greetings in English -- they mean the same thing. Explain that Hello is more formal than Hi. ROLE-PLAY Ask for individual volunteers to practice a dialogue with you. As you call on each volunteer, say Stand, please and indicate with a gesture that you want the student to stand. Ask each student to say Hello. My name is ___. (Translate this if necessary. )You answer with Hello. My name is __. PRACTICE IN PAIRS Divide the students into pairs. Ask them to practice the dialogue. One student says Hi. My name is __. the other student says Hi. My name is __. (The students may say Hi or Hello. ) PRESENT Ask for volunteers to repeat the dialogue for the rest of the class. Listen to about ten pairs of students. The students need to practice speaking English in front of other people. You may wish to encourage the class to applaud after someone, or a group, has finished speaking. Applause acknowledges the effort of the students and builds their confidence in speaking in front of other people and in pronunciation. The students in North American classrooms often applaud each other's work. 2. How are you? PUPPETS

·the remaining exercises in the Let’s do it. ·the reading for the next lesson in the student book Teaching Tip Be sure to end each class with some deliberate activity. Choose a song, a game or an activity-book exercise that reviews what the students have learned during the lesson. This teacher's guide gives some suggestions, but the choice is yours. Always sum up each lesson with a statement. You might quickly state the new words the class learned in the lesson, or you might state clearly the homework for the next lesson. Finally, end each lesson by waving and saying Good-bye and using phrases such as See you later or See you tomorrow. Don't worry that your students haven't learned these yet. They will learn them gradually as you use them again and again.
