Module 3 Book 6 Interpersonal Relationships---Friendship Reading Practice Class12 Wangli The seventh class 2019.04.18 Teaching Material The content of my lesson is from Book6 Module 3. This module is about Interpersonal Relationships. And this period is to enlarge Ss’ reading quantity and diversity. By studying of this lesson, we’ll enable students to know how to appreciate poems and develop the interest in reading poems.

Teaching Aims

According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, and after studying the teaching material, the teaching aims are the followings: 1.Knowledge aims (1)The Ss can master the meaning of the poems. (2)The Ss can use the ways to appreciate a new poem. (3)The Ss can write something by imitation 2.Ability aims

(1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing (2) To guide Ss to set up effective studying of poems.

(3) To train the Ss’ abilities of studying by themselves and cooperating .

3.Emotion or moral aims

(1)By completing the task, the Ss increase their interest in reading poems and set up self-confidence in studying English. (2)Teach the Ss to take love and friendship properly The Important and Difficult Points

The important point is the understanding of the poems. The difficult point is the understanding of some words and sentences for example, yet we reiterate love! love! Love! As if it were a coin with fixed value instead of a flower that dies, and opens a different bud. Teaching Methods

Step 1. Lead-in and check

1. Clear the benefits and aims of study;

2. Check the things learned by themselves (the brief introduction of the four poets and the meaning of the poems) 3. the activities on P39

4. the ways to appreciate the poems

Step 2. Poem 4 Auld Lang Syne

1. Enjoy the beautiful song; 2. explain the meaning of “kindness”

Step 3. Poem 3 Roses 1. Invite a student to read the poem aloud with emotion. 2. Talk about the poem and the figure of speech---symbolism in the poem Step 4. Poem 2 Lies about love

This poem is really hard for students to understand. First, let them read it together. Second, explain it. Last, talk about the figure of speech---metaphor. Step 5. Poem 1 When you are old 1. Listen to a song and the record; 2. Explain the third part of the poem; 3. Talk about the rhyming of the poem Step 6. Summary

Task: Activity 4 What do we think of love? Step 7. Group work

Try to write a sentence or a short poem about love or friendship by imitation Step 8. Further study: Appreciate a poem by themselves
