Speaking and Writing 一、Analysis of the teaching material

This period comes from Unit 3 Finding the Correct Perspective, New Senior English for China Student’s Book 11. The topic of this unit is “finding the correct perspective”. The Reading in Using Language help students understand that life does not end if you do not get into university but it may mean re-evaluating your education and skills and thinking. It may mean beginning some more training or starting to work in a job which will provide you with new skills. This period consists of two parts —— speaking and writing. The emphasis will be placed on helping students to talk about the problems in their study life and then write a letter giving another student who has problems with the advice. .

二、Analysis of the students

Senior students are active in thinking and interested in sharing. They have already got much information from the text in this unit and have their own suggestions to problems concerning their study. So they must be interested in talking about this subject. What's more, on the one hand, the students still have some difficulty thinking and expressing themselves in English; on the other hand, they are always willing to take an active part in the activities. So in this class, tasks are designed in different levels to arouse their interest in learning as well as to be motivated to finish the tasks.

Before writing, translating some important sentences

can help decrease the difficulties in expressing. 2.

Group sharing can help the students learn from each other. (PPT & blackboard) 3.

Writing

教师角度

本节课的课堂容量较大，重点在于指导学生通过回忆归纳阅读相关信息并能运用在口语表达中，难点在于最后让学生把所学知识运用到书面写作中并整理成书面作文形式。可从教师指令是否清晰，是否调动学生积极参与课堂讨论以及对于学生写作指导是否到位等角度进行评价及反思。
