Ⅰ. Warm-up and revision

1. Free talk: Review the key sentences students have learned before.

2. Practice sentence patterns: When is your birthday?

3. Sing a song: When is your birthday?

Ⅱ. Presentation

1. Show students the PPT of pictures which are about a test of students. And let students guess which subject they are taking. Then lead students with their singing contest, and then about Zoom’s singing test.

2. Play the video of this part and let students understand the meaning firstly. Let them think about the question “When is the singing test?” when they are watching. 3.Show the PPT, and tell the story little by little.

(1)Show students the first picture:

The singing test will be on May 4th . Zoom can’t sing well. What should he do? Zip:Don’t worry. Practice makes perfect.

Play the tape and teach the key words worry, practice and perfect. Let students read after it and act out the dialogue.

(2) Show students the next three pictures:

Check the number of pictures while listening to the tape. Teach students the pictures one by one and let students read after the tape to feel the emotion of Zoom. Finish the task and help students understand deeply.

(3)Zoom refused the invitation once more. And how about the result of the singing test?

Show students the picture and let students listen to the tape. And the teacher does the action of celebration to let students understand the meaning. And do the action of going swimming of Zoom to help students understand the change of Zoom’s feelings. Ⅲ. Consolidation & Extension

1. Students read the story by themselves.

2. Play the video of the story.

3. Read the story following the tape and role play the story.

4. Fill in the blanks.

5. Work in groups to act out the whole story by wearing the headdresses. Evaluate the best groups.
