Teaching aims: Knowledge and ability objectives: 1. To practice using some vocabulary related to school and education. 2. To practice predicting facts before listening. 2. To practice getting general idea while listening. 3. To practice filling in the blanks while listening, using some useful listening strategies, such as abbreviation, special signs and so on. Moral objectives: 1. To get familiar with the different features of traditional education system and the alternative one. 2. To have a knowledge of British education system. Teaching key and difficult points: 1. How to get the general idea more efficiently. 2. How to guide students to fill in the gap with the help of some listening skills. Teaching method: Task-based teaching method. Teaching aids: Powerpoint, Cellphone, Bb. Teaching procedures: StepⅠ.Greetings&Lead-in Ss will watch a video about alternative education , which in turn will lead in today’s topic.

StepⅡ.Pre-listening 1. Ss will have a picture of different features of traditional and alternative education system through the video and they will continue to learn some k ey words about schools . After going through them carefully, Ss will decide which words are related to traditional education or alternative education. Write T for traditional education and A for alternative education.

StepⅢ.While-listening Step Ⅲ . While -listening Task1: 1. Ss will listen to a dialogue between Jack and Nicholas about their learning experiences. Jack had a traditional education and Nicholas had an alternative one. Before listening, predict which exacts are from Jack’s school and which ones are from Nicholas’ school. Write “J” for Jack’s school and “N” for Nicholas’ school.
