Teaching Aims Knowledge: 1、To enable the Ss to understand and say the new words: rabbit, duck, chicken, snake, turtle, and the words of describing pet characteristics: small, long.

2、To help Ss talk about pets. “I have…” “It’s….”

3、To enable the Ss chant the chant boldly.

To increase the understanding of animals and learn to love animals.

Teaching key and difficult points

1、To understand the meaning of pet. 2、To describe the pets by Ss themselves.

Teaching methods and preparations.

1. ”Task-based”teaching method.

2. Some kinds of activities :Act and guess the words. Talking about the pets. Guessing game.

3. Need CAI, word cards, sentences cards and some pictures.

Teaching process A. Look, listen and chant. 1. warming up

( 1 ) Rap about animals (

Book1, unit 3 animals: cat, cat, what do you see？

) ( 2 ) Draw a picture of a house on the blackboard. Review the names of animals that can be used as pets. Stick the pictures of the animals into the house, and say: “we can keep them at home. They are pets.”

Purpose: Guide students to sense pet meaning. 2. Present new learning contents

( 1 ) observe the main scene and introduce new vocabulary.

Guide students to observe and communicate simply, such as: Look! Who can you see? What are they doing? (Yes, they are walking their pets in the park.) What pet do they have?

Then look at the picture of section A, to confirm who has what pet.

( 2 ) play songs and perceive the new language The first time: play songs, let the students listen carefully, the whole perception of the new language.

The second time: play the song again, let the students focus on the new words of the lesson. The teacher followed the recording to point out the pet pictures . Purpose: To help students understand and pay attention to the key words of this lesson, and initially establish the link of pronunciation and meaning. The third time: the whole perception language again.

3. Vocabulary learning ( 1 ) First, let the students recall :What pet do they have? According to the students’ feedback order to learn one by one.

( 2 ) Ss say the pet name, meanwhile the teacher show the words card. Take the students to observe the word form, play the sound recording, and let the students imitate the tape.

( 3 ) The teacher can imitate the pet by action. Purpose: On the one hand, it can strengthen the students' impression of the word, on the other hand, it can help students understand the word more fully. ( 4 ) when learning a pet name, teacher can add words that describe color or other characteristics ( such as long, small, etc. ), such as: what color is the rabbit? Do you like it? Why? 4. Vocabulary drills

( 1 ) listen, point and repeat. Ss listen to the tape, point the word picture and repeat. ( 2 ) guess game: PPT show part of an animal picture, and let Ss guess the animal name. Purpose: to practice observation and imagination.

( 3 ) play a “what’s missing” game by PPT.

Purpose: to practice memory.

B let's play 1. Introduction of sentence patterns PPT: Show a photo of the teacher and her pet. Then ask Ss several questions:

T:“I have a pet. Can you guess what is it?”

Ss: “It’s a …”

T: “Yes, it’s a dog. I have a pet. It’s a dog.”

Write: I have a pet. It’s a _______. T: “What color is it?”

Ss: “It’s yellow and white.”

T: “I have a pet. It’s a dog. It’s yellow and white.”

Write: It’s________. T: “Is it big or small?”

Ss: “It’s small.”

T: “I have a pet. It’s a dog. It’s yellow and white. It’s small.”

T: “Is it lovely?”

Explain “lovely” with pictures and actions Ss：“Yes.”

T: “I have a pet. It’s a dog. It’s yellow and white. It’s small. It’s lovely.”

2. Pattern drills

Replace practice with pictures of other animals.

“I have a pet.. It’s a _______. It’s _______. It’s______.... ”

Purpose: Encourage students use more sentences to describe different animal characteristics.

3. Application of sentence patterns ( 1 ) play a video: 4 students with a photo of their pet introduce their pets in English.

Purpose: This video will pave the way for the next group activities.

( 2 ) Group work: Four students a group. The students who have a pet take out the photo. No pet students take a picture of an animal from a picture bag prepared by the teacher, and then introduce their pets to the members of the group.

( 3 ) draw part of the group to the podium, the members of the group to introduce their pets to the class.
