Teaching aims 1.

Students can understand the story content with the help of pictures, review and consolidate the key languages of this unit. 2.

Students could read the story aloud,and can also perform the story with teachers' help. They can improve their comprehensive ability of using English knowledge. 3.

Students should be educated to make unremitting efforts in their learning process. Practice makes perfect. Key points 1. Students can read and finish the filling task of Story time. 2. Students can role play the conversation emotionally. 3. Students can build a language system of this unit by reviewing for this class. Difficult points Help students improve the ability of using English in a comprehensive way.

Teaching aids: ppt, word cards, and related video.

Teaching process Step1. Warm-up 1. Game: Ask some students to extract one picture and stick it to suitable place to review the old words. 2. Use the sentence pattern‘ When is your birthday? ’to make a dialogue. 3. Sing a song: When is your birthday? Designing aim: To let students speak English as much as they can. This also can help them cultivate their habit of communicating in English. Step2. Revision 1.

Review the twelve months 2.

Review cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers to help students consolidate the expression of date. 3.

Review some special days in each month and how to say them with the dates. Step3. Presentation 1. Teacher uses the ppt to lead in the picture of singing test. Which can make them be apperceive about the new part of this unit. 2. Teacher plays the video of this part, and students

need to answer the question: when is the singing test? Designing aim: Create a scene of the whole story and cultivate their abilities of getting the main idea. 3. Show the ppt and tell the story step by step. (1)The first picture: The singing test will be on May 4th , Zoom can’t sing well. What should he do? Zip：Don’t worry. Practice makes perfect. Teacher plays the sound and explains some key words, such as worry, practice, perfect. (2) Shows next three pictures to let students reorder the story body and check while they are listening. Students could feel zoom’s emotion after teacher’s explaining. Some fixed collocations should be taught to students. Such as want to do something, play…with somebody, good job and so on. (3) How is the result of zoom’s singing test? Shows the picture and plays the sound while the teacher could do some actions of congratulations. Teacher makes a very happy expression of zoom who is going to swim. These series of actions could help students understand the changes in Zoom’ mood. Students read after the sound.

Designing aim: Creates a real situation for students to let them get the truth of ‘Practice makes perfect’. Step4. Consolidation & Extension 1. Students read the story by themselves. 2. Play the video of the story for students and they should imitate the conversation. Designing aim: Imitating the pronunciation and intonation in the video can cultivate students’

sense of language. 3.Fill in the blanks. 4. Work in groups to role play the conversation emotionally. Select the best performance team and give the reward. Step5. Homework 1. Remember “Practice makes perfect” and do it in our studying. 2.Retell the story to your friends emotionally.
