Students will be able to improve their reading skills, particularly scanning and summarizing skills; they will also master the key words and phrases(e.g. camera, mobile phone, hurry, airport and sausage) Process and methods: Students will be able to improve their resourcing strategies by searching for information about lost and found on the Internet. Affects: By knowing the lost and found offices, students know they can help and ask for help in the office. Teaching emphases and anticipated difficulties It might be a little difficult for students to use the possessive pronouns. Teaching procedure Step1 Warm-up and lead-in Activity 1 Look and say Show some pictures to review the words of school things and introduce the new words. Step 2 Pre-reading Activity 2 Prediction Look at the picture and the title of the passage. Predict what will be in the Lost and Found office in New York city? Students talk about their predictions. Step 2 While-reading Activity 3 Check prediction Students read the passage quickly and find out what are in the office.

Activity 4 Scanning Students read the passage again and answer the following questions. When do people often lose things? Why are there lost and found offices at airports and stations? What do people do at lost and found offices? What strange things are there at the New York City lost and found office? Check the answers from the whole class. Step 3 Post-reading 1.

Students work in pairs and draw a mind map of the passage. 2.

Students retell the passage according to their mind map. 3.

Complete the passage with the correct form of the words and expressions from the box. Discussion Work in pairs and discuss what students have lost. Imitate and write a lost and found note. Step 4 Homework 1.

Read the dialogue aloud carefully and choose 1 paragraph to recite. 2.

Finish exercises of M1U2.
