Unit 4 When is Easter? Lesson Plan (Part A ) I. Analyzing teaching material This unit is from the second book of PEP IT for grade 5. In Section A, the text tells the students about the expressions of date. In Section B, students can talk about the date of different events. It’s helpful to improve the students’ communicative ability.

II.The analysis of students This unit is for the students of Grade 5. It’s important in their daily life. And it is close to their daily life, so students will be certainly interested in it. III.Teaching objectives A. Knowledge objectives a) Students will be able to identify new words and phrases such as first, second, third, fourth and so on. b) Students will be able to identify new sentence patterns: When is the sports meet? It’s on April 4th. B. Ability objectives a) Students will be able to understand listening material which contains new words and sentence patterns in this unit. b) Students will be able to talk about the expressions of date. C. Moral objectives a) Students will be able to remember the date of important things. b) Students will be able to be active to speak English in class. Step1: Revision Review words of months and their short forms.

Step2: Presentation

Show pictures of different events. 2.

Show ordinal numbers and lead students to write dates. 3.

Match holidays with their dates. Step3: Listen to the dialogue. 1.

Teacher plays the video for the first time. Students only listen.

Teacher plays the recording for the second time. Students answer two questions. 3.

Check the answers together. 4.

Play the tape and students read the dialogue after it.

Step4: Pair Work 1.

Practice the conversations in pairs. 2.
