1. 学生在第一、二课中已经接触和初步了解了一般过去时的用法和动词原形如何变过去式。在本课中要进一步帮助学生学会利用归纳的方法初步了解动词过去式的拼写规律。

T: Great! Which task do you want to do? The first task, the second task or the third task? S: I want to do the first task. T: All right. Let’s have a look at the first task. Oh. The first task is about words. Let’s do word task. (1) Students have 3 minutes to write down as many the past tense of a verb. Examples: went, enjoyed, ….

(2) When time is up, students share words with a partner and practice pronouncing them. (3) When students share words with the class, students get one point for words they wrote that no other student wrote. 3. T: Well done. Would you like to do another activity?

S: Sure.

T: All right. The activity is “Our English teacher often asked us to …”. Work in groups of six. The first one says: “Our English teacher often asked us to swim.” The second one says: “Our English teacher often asked us to swim. Our English teacher often asked us to go shopping.” The third one says: “Our English teacher often asked us to swim. Our English teacher often asked us to go shopping. Our English teacher often asked us to read.”…

4. T: Good job. Do you want to do the second task?

S: Yes.

T: This task is about sentences. Let’s do sentence task. “A lie or not a lie”. Please write down three sentences such as I began to … … … ago. There can be a lie or all three lies. For example: I began to drive one year ago. I began to cook twenty years ago. I began to learn French five months ago. The first one do you think it is a lie or not a lie? S: A lie./ Not a lie. T: It’s a lie. Is the second one a lie or not a lie?

S: A lie./ Not a lie. T: It’s not a lie. Is the third one a lie or not a lie? S: A lie./ Not a lie. T: It’s a lie. Do you understand it?

S: Yes. T: OK. Write down three sentences such as I began to … … ago.

Please share the sentences with your partners and guess it’s a lie or not a lie.

5. T: Would you like to do the activity again?

S: Yes.

T: Let’s begin with “Our English teacher often asked us to practise …”. Work in groups of four. I’ll say the first sentence. Our English teacher often asked us to practise listening.

6. T: We have only one task left. Let’s do it! The last one is about topics. Let’s do topic task. Work in groups of seven. All of the group will get a short passage.
