一．Teaching Materials Analysis

This part is focused on students’ vocabulary and listening, which consists of five questions aimed at enlarging students vocabulary, improving the ability of listening as well as enriching their knowledge about a fantasy story.

Train the skills of listening, that is, prediction, underlined key words, being focused on key information while listening , taking notes as well as judging. 2.

2)To correct possible mistakes they might make in a proper way by making necessary changes while repeating their sentences. 3)To encourage the students to cooperate with others by working in pairs or in groups of four and finish the exercises independently first. 3.

Games, that is, each group has to compete with each other to get apples and the group with the most apples will be the winner. 3.

Have Ss watch the video and guess what the name of the film is and which book is it adapted from, so that they will know some information about the author, Philip Pullman, as well as his trilogy.

Step II Words Study (12min.)

Have Ss finish activity 3, activity 4 and their related exercise independently. Later, they have to check the answers with their partners and then some groups volunteer to answer the questions. Tell them to read out full sentences in each question.

Then listen to the tape twice and Ss have to choose the answer individually, after that, check the answers with their partners. Later some volunteers present their answers.
