Unit 4 When is Easter?

—Birthday traditions 内容分析：

本单元学习的主题是中西方节日以及个人的生日。在学习了十二个月份和核心句型后，学生大都可以用英语表达每个月份独特的节日，也可以流利地和同学进行句型交流。学生能够体会并表达自己喜欢的中外的节日。

学情分析：

学生在本节内容之前已在第三单元学习了一年十二个月份，所以在学习本单元是比较轻松的，在此基础上，我进一步进行了拓展，以阅读课的形式让学生对中西方人们庆祝生日的方式作深一步的了解。同时激发了学生的学习兴趣。

教学目标：

1 .能够听，说，读，写核心句型：when is……？

It’s in /on……

能够在情景中运用句型：when is your birthday? My birthday is on/in...或It’s on/in....询问并回答有关生日的内容。

3.

能够在正确阅读策略下，运用略读(skimming),寻读（scanning）以及详读(read in detail)完成对短文的理解。

教学重难点：

掌握正确的阅读方式，在问题引导下有目的地进行阅读训练。

教学准备：

教师准备：多媒体课件，教学卡片，图片。

教学过程：

Step 1 Warm-up and lead in

1. Greeting each other. 2. Teacher play an english song “months of the year”,sing along it.

3.

Teacher talk with students about differenet festivals in each month，lead into the topic “birthday traditions” using the word “special”. Step 2 Skimming 1.

Let students read the passage quickly,and try to get the main idea of the passage. 2.

Choose a student to answer the question and lead in “birthday traditions”. Step 3 Detail reading 1.

Let students read the first paragraph and anwser the following question: “What do we usually do on our birthday?”

S1:Sing a birthday song. S2:Eat a birthday cake. S3:Make a wish.(make a wish together,and ask ) S4:Blow out the candles.

(play the magic vedio) 2.

Ask students a question: “What do you ususlly do on your birthday?”

Students may answer like :have a birthday party ,see a film ,have a big dinner and so on. Step 4. Scanning 1 . Let students scan the passage again,try to answer question below: “What are the birthday traditions in the three countries?”

2.Choose several students to answer it. S1In china,people usually eat noodles. S2:In argentina ,people pull the ears. S3:In america,people spank the hip. 3.Why do they do like that? S1:It means a long life. S2Iit means good luck. S3:It means bad luck go away.

Step 5. Listening and Reading

1.

Play the passage and let students read after it,pay attention to their pronunciation. 2.

Choose some students to read it . 3.

Know the same meaning of birthday:bring luck to birthday persons. Show the gesture of good luck. Step 6 .Practice 1.

Work in pairs and talk about the birthday traditions in different countries. 2.

Encourage two students to act it out in front of the class. Step7 A game “lucky month”

Every student put the stars onto the month

they were born,the month that has the most stars is our lucky month. Step 7 . Homework 1.

Look for more information about birthday traditions, write a short passage about

birthday traditions after class. 2.

Read the passage five times.
