Ⅰ. The analysis of the text.

This lesson is from the last page on the students’

book (Volume Two). It consists of six proverbs, each attached with the main content in every unit. These six proverbs aim at enlightening the students on some common sense or general understanding. It provides a platform for students to learn the English proverbs and to compare the target language and the original language. To be more broadly, this lesson offers an overall preview of Chinese-English translation, which will draw some students’

interests. Ⅱ. The important points and difficult points.

How to read and how to translate these six proverbs will be the important points. There are many unfamiliar words in these proverbs. The students will find it quite difficult reading and memorizing the meaning of these words. The teacher can design some circumstances for the students to guess the real meaning. They can build reasonable connections and observe the teacher’s actions to find out the new words’

meaning. Ⅲ. The teaching methods and teaching preparation.

The teacher will mainly use the Communicative Language Teaching method and Audio-lingual method to gradually let the story containing the six proverbs sink in the students’

mind.

The teacher will write the sentences on the paper, and let the students to read. The paper will be used in the activity for the students to memorize

the six proverbs. The computer is an crucial device in this lesson and the relevant power-point will show the story to the students and help them understand the proverbs much easier. Ⅳ. The teaching procedure. ⅰ. The students will sing a song: . The teacher will show the title of today’s lesson: . ⅱ. The students will follow the power-point and get to know the general idea of the story. The story contains six proverbs, but they are shown by the story of a snail and a caterpillar. The words by these two tiny animals will naturally present the proverbs. The students will read and find out the right meaning.

ⅱ. The slide will show how to match the English and the right meaning. The teacher will invite some students to do the exercises. ⅲ. The students will look at some more proverbs and try to find out their correct meaning. Ⅴ.The homework is to find out more interesting proverbs and recite the proverbs the students learned today. Ⅵ. Blackboard writing.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow-----these are the three days of man. Let sleeping dogs lie. It’s the empty can that makes the most noise.
