Before the lesson ,the teacher can ask students some questions about war and peace to let them interested in the text.

Last lesson ,we have learned some useful words and expressions about war and peace .today we are going to know more information about it .Class, do you hear about the Second World War? What do you think of it？I think the Second World War is a disaster, because a lot of people were killed in the Second World War;a lot of families were ruined, a lot of parents lost their kids .and a lot of kids lost their parents.In this war ,there was an important campaign,it was called Operation Lord. In the campaign ,there was an important turning point , it was the D-Day

landings. Even we can say it is very critical to win the Second World War. But What is the D-Day landings like?Let’s go into the text and study details. At first ,I will show you some pictures and then answer the questions. 2.Mutual activities (1)

Look at the photo and the map and answer the questions. Question1: What kind of people can you see in the photo?(soldiers) Question2: Where on the map do you think the photo was taken?

In many parts of the world , a lot of the monuments were built in honor of the dead heroes. An English poet once wrote a famous poem in memory of the lost soldiers. The poem is “For the Fallen” .Class ,please look at the poem ,let’s enjoy it .

By reading this passage,we know that war is cruel, peace is beautiful. Now ,why can you sit here to study attentively ?Just because we live in a peaceful world. so we should cherish our peaceful life. At last I hope there will be no war in the world forever, and our world will be always full of love ,peace, and happiness.
