Unit13 Warm-up 教学目标: 在本课学习结束时，学生能够：

1. 通过听获取人物外貌的关键信息，准确识别人物；

2. 运用描述人物外貌的词汇和表达法，抓住关键特征，描述人物外貌

重点词汇：

beard, blond, sunglasses, uniform, moustache, heel, sleeve, chain, facial expression

Pre-listening Step 1 brainstorm: T invites Ss to brainstorm the aspects of describing a person’s appearance.

Step 2 Key Words: T and Ss go into each aspect of appearance and learn some key words with pictures.

Step 3 Ex. 1: Ss add more words to the Key Words box and complete Ex. 1 on page7 following the T. While learning the new words, T pays attention to embed the words in sentences instead of presenting them alone.

While-listening Step 4 1st listening: T introduces the task (identifying the 4 suspects in Ex. 2) and gives Ss a few seconds to look at the picture. Ss listen to the tape and try to identify the 4 people, and then check the answer as a whole class.

Step 5 2nd listening: Ss listen to the tape again. T invites Ss to tell what information helps them identify the people. Step 6 3rd listening This time T plays the tape to help Ss get the missing information and focus on the sentence

patterns of describing appearance.

speaking Step 7

Ss work in pairs and take turns to describe people in the photos in the textbook. S1 describes and S2 guesses who it is. (Ex. 3) If possible, T can provide more photos with full appearance of people and encourage Ss to use more words to make the description.

Homework ：Write a short passage describing yourself or one of your friends (requirements: your description should help others identify who it is).
