Teaching Design ---- Lesson 17
【Teaching Aims】
1. The students may correctly recognize and read three new words: foot, knee, leg; and use the words to describe the pain in different places; and get to know their plural forms. The students may understand and use the new sentences: Not so well. Oh no! I’m sorry! 2. The students are able to practice the sentences in different situations or through listening, reading and speaking activities. Work in pairs to read and act out the dialogue, dub for Simon and Lulu, and make up new dialogues. 3. The students may care for each other, and take care of others when they get hurt.
【Important and Difficult Points】
Important point: The students can correctly read and use the new words and sentences in different situations. Difficult points: 1. The students are capable of correctly pronouncing and read the new sentence: Not so well.
2. Make up new dialogues.

【Teaching Process】
Step One. Warm-up 1. Free talk between the teacher and the students:
T: Good morning. / Hello! / What’s your name? How are you?
Ss: Fine, thank you. / Good. And you? / Not very well.
T: Oh, I’m sorry! / Not very well. Look at my arm / shoulders……
【设计意图:课前热身,打破学生们紧张的情绪。在相互认识的同时,达到温故知新的效果。因为本节课需要他们用前面几节课学过的句子进行生成,所以复习可以换回他们对前面知识的记忆。这里,还渗透了歌曲中的生词:shoulders。】
2. Introduce Simon: I’m not very well. But it doesn’t matter because I have a friend to help me. It’s a monkey. His name is Simon. Let’s say “Hello, Simon!”
3. Simon says: If there is “Simon says”, they do the gestures: Nod your head, open your mouth, and touch your neck…… If there is no “Simon says”, they stand still doing nothing. If they do wrong, they have to sit down.
At last, the teacher says: Simon say “Touch you foot”, thus leading in the new word: foot. 【设计意图:通过这个活动活跃气氛,并且复习巩固16课中较难的六个句子。进而引出本课的新单词:foot,自然过渡到新授环节。】
Step Two. Presentation 1. foot:
First, the students read together after the teacher, imitating the sound. Second, read one by one. Third, read according to different pictures of foot.
Look at Simon’s foot. The teacher points at the toes and says: One, two, three……, eight. Oh, Simon has eight toes. But I have ten toes. You have ten toes, too. Then, get to know the plural form: feet. 2. Practice the sentences: Look at my foot. Oh no! I’m sorry!
The teacher puts a Band-Aid on her foot and say: Look at my foot, and the students do the same and read the sentence one by one. Later, the teacher answers “Oh no! I’m sorry!” to let the students listen and remember.
Then, the teacher says “Look at my foot.”
and asks the students to answer, practicing using the sentence: ‘Oh no! I’m sorry!’
3. Look at the picture and lead in: knee.
Read together, read one by one, and read while changing their voice.
Get to know its plural form: knees. 4. Look at Simon’s knee, and read together: Look at my knee. Oh no! I’m sorry!
T: Oh, look! Simon got a message on Wechat! Let’s see what happened!
Look at the screen shot of the conversation between Simon and Lulu, and introduce new friend: Lulu.
T: Simon is talking to “Lulu”. Yes. This is a turtle. Her name is Lulu. Let’s say “Hello, Lulu!”
5. Listen to Simon’s and Lulu’s words and repeat. Read the new sentence “Not so well.”
one by one. Then, read together: How are you? Not so well. Look at my knee. Oh no! I’m sorry!
The students wear the hand puppets of Simon and Lulu and practice the dialogue in pairs. One is Simon and the other is Lulu. 【设计意图:三年级的学生注意力集中的时间还不能维持一节课,所以在课堂的中间环节我设计了一个Simon和Lulu聊微信的环节,这贴近学生的实际生活,能够再次激起他们的兴趣,增强他们练习句子的积极性。同时,也可以锻炼他们的听力。】
6. leg:
Read together and one by one. Then read according to different rhythm.
Get to know the plural form: leg. 7. Look at the picture of Gao Wei’s leg. He got hurt. What’s wrong?
The teacher introduce with pictures: Gao Wei went to play football, and Oops…… he fell down. Let’s listen what happened. 8. First, listen to the dialogue and repeat for two times.
Second, work in pairs to read the dialogue.
Third, the teacher chooses students to be Gao Wei and Li Yan to read the dialogue.
Step Three. Practice 1. T: Look! Simon brings us three tasks today. Let’s see what they are.
Task One: Act out Lesson 17.
One is Li Yan, and the other is Gao Wei. Act out the dialogue in the front wearing the headwears.
Task Two: Choose the word and sentence they like and dub for Simon and Lulu.
Task Three: Make up a new dialogue. They can choose to use the given sentences.
Task List (任务单)
Task One (任务一): Act out Lesson 17 (表演17课课文).
Task Two(任务二): Dub for the dialogue(选词填空再配音).
Lulu: How are you? Simon: Not very well./ Not so well. Look at my _____. (arm, eye, head, neck, knee, leg…) Lulu: Oh no! I’m sorry!
Task Three(任务三): Make up a new dialogue. (自编新对话)

【设计意图:学生的基础水平参差不齐,对新知识的接受能力也不尽相同。因此,
有些同学能够背诵、表演出对话已经达到了本课的目标;能力较强的学生可以选择自己喜欢的单词表示不同部位受伤来配音;学习能力、变通能力很强的学生则会采用最难的任务来挑战自己,达到学以致用的目的。】
2. Sing the song together while touching the body parts.
Step Four. Summary T: What have we learn today? Review the words and sentences we have learnt in this class.
Step Five. Homework 1. Recite the dialogue. 2. Sing the song to your Mum and Dad. 3. Search for more words about body.
