Lesson 15: left and right 单元目标

第三单元包括许多对学生具有直接意义的词汇,重点介绍一些描述人的感情。感觉和外貌的单词和用语。

第三单元共有6节新授课和一节复习课。

学生能听懂、会说和认读下列词汇:

Body, foot, leg, head, arm, nose, ear, mouth, hair, eye, face, doctor, happy, sad, warm, cool, left, right 2.

学生能够理解并口头运用下列用语和句子:

Tell the students that today, they will learn the English words for parts of their face! They’ll also learn about left and right in a chant that will help them remember witch side is which in English!

What is it?

Introduce the new concepts of the body part words: eye, ear, mouth, nose, hair, face

Use your own face to demonstrate eyes, ears, mouth, nose, hair and face. Write the words on the blackboard and point to them as you and the class say them together.

In Chinese, ask the class why we usually say eyes and ears with and s on the end. The students may need help understanding that we have two eyes and ears, and we usually put s on the end of a word to show there is more than one thing. Refer the students to page 38, part 1. Look at the picture and go over the new body vocabulary again. Say each word aloud and ask the students to point to the body part in the picture.

Practice

Listen and repeat

Play the audiotape as the students follow in their books and then repeat the words after the speaker.

Teach the class the difference between What’s it? It’s a/an _______. And what are they?

They are _____. For example, write the phrases on the blackboard and explain that one is singular and one is plural. Give examples of how to use

them and ask the students to repeat them.

Lead the class through a question and answer drill that reviews old and new vocabulary for body parts. For example, point of your body or hold up vocabulary cards and say:

Teacher:

what’s this/ what are they?

Class: it’s a/an _____./ they are ______.

Let’s play!

Now, you can tell the students that you will check what they understand by playing a good game. Ask for two volunteers to come forward and teach the game shown on page38, part 2. You say hand and hair while one students stands and the other touches his/her hand and hair. Repeat with various body parts learned in this lesson and the previous lesson.

You can review body parts while you practice right and left. For example, face the same way as the class and lead them in this drill:

Teacher: right/ left hand. Say it, please.

Class: right/ left hand.

Teacher point to your right/ left leg. Point to your right/ left arm. Point to your right/ left ear.
