Unit 4

When is Easter? Ⅰ.Analyses of the teaching material This is the last period of Unit Four , and the topic is “Practice makes perfect.”

The main sentence are “I want to practise my song.” and

“I need more practice. ”

Ⅱ.Ideas of the teaching design The Ss of Grade Five can listen, read and make their own dialogues. So, we will do several exercises about this. In addition , listening and watching short videos can improve Ss’

interest of learning English.

Ⅲ. Teaching aims and demands

1.Knowledge objects

(1)

Be able to listen , read , retell and act out the story. (2)

Be able to understand and say the new words and phrases:

practice,practise and perfect. (3) Be able to ask and answer with the key sentences. Target language: ---Will you come to the party? ---Sorry, I can’t. I want to practise my song. ---Let’s watch TV together. --Sorry. I need more practice.

2. Ability objects

To develop the Ss’

abilities of reading, listening and speaking. (2)

To develop the Ss’ abilities of communication by learning the useful words and structures. (3)

To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups. 3.Moral objects (1) As the saying goes,“Practice makes perfect.”

Step2.Warming up (1)

Enjoy a song: When is your birthday. (2)

Divide the whole class into two groups: oy group& girl group. (设计意图: 通过分组比赛的方式来调动学生参与课堂活动的积极性，培养其团队意识和正确的竞争意识。）

Free talk. Present some pictures and ask Ss some relevant questions in order to lead to the topic. (设计意图：通过呈现各种图片来向学生发问，既回顾了旧知，也自然过渡到了本课主题，使得师生充分交流。) Step3. Lead-in Present the sound and picture of a bird then lead to the fact: “Birds are good at singing.”through communication. Afterwards, introduce the music teacher---Miss Bird. (设计意图：音频的出现可以刺激学生的感官,从而加深对Zoom’s music teacher的了解。) Step4. Presentation (1)

Ask Ss to read the first dialogue and think about these questions：

When is the singing test? How many days can Zoom practise?

What does Zoom think of the test on April 30th ? (设计意图：通过不断提问的方式来引领学生阅读，既能让学生熟悉教材，也可以激发学生的好奇心。) (2)

 Watch the video and think about the question：

What do Zoom’s friends say to him?

(设计意图：通过观看对话视频的方式来让学生充分感知故事内容，做到“在玩中学”。) Read the sentences Zoom says together. Circle them on textbooks.

 Find what Zoom reply. Try to feel Zoom’s attitude. ④

Pay attention to the differences between “practice”

and “practise”.

Listen and repeat the story sentence by sentence. (With the e-book.) (2)

Work in groups to role play the story and invite some Ss to act it out. (设计意图:先在畅言电子书上听原音跟读，再让学生模仿练习朗读，最后再请学生分角色扮演。由易到难，层层递进。) (3)

X.Teaching reflections

This class was a story reading class. Most Ss could understand the story and read it frequently. However, retelling it was a little difficult for some Ss. So they need more practice and be more active.
