To improve students’ ability of writing, and make them know how to assess a composition Key and difficult points

(1) How to assess a composition (2) How to improve a letter of Invitation Teaching procedure Step 1 Lead-in Present two different compositions on the PPT, and let Ss compare and tell which one can get high scores. Step 2 Get Ss to conclude what makes a good composition, and show them on the PPT. Step 3 Show the writing material on the PPT, and get Ss to figure out the key points. Step 4 Present the structure of an invitation

Step 5 Choose some original sentences from Ss’ compositions and ask them to the mistakes and try to correct them. After that, present some beautiful sentences of an invitation to the students and get them to recite one of the sentences that they like best. Step 6 Groupwok--discussion What are the procedures to write a letter of Invitation Step 7 Present a sample version on the PPT. Step 8 Present a writing template to the Ss. Step 9 Homework
