Ⅰ. Teaching contents: Vocabulary: good, bad, spicy, yucky, tasty, Thailand, Canada, snowy.

Sentence patterns: What was the food like? It was (spicy). Where were you yesterday? I was in (Thailand).

Ⅱ. Teaching aims: ⑴

Get the students to master these words: good, bad, spicy, yucky, tasty, Thailand, Canada. ⑵

Get the students to master these sentence patterns: What was the food like? It was (spicy). Where were you yesterday? I was in (Thailand). ⑶

Let the students review “was& were” in some questions to improve their ability of communication.

Ⅲ. Sentiment:

Enjoy travelling. The world is so big, I’d like to visit it. Love the world, love the life.

Ⅵ. Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Warming up 1、Greeting. 2、Sing a song: What can we do?

Step2. Revision 1.

Show two pictures of the song and ask two questions T: What was the bedroom like before?

S1: It was tidy.

T: What is the bedroom like now? S2: It’s messy. 2.

Show other pictures and ask two questions T: What were the rivers like yesterday?

S1: They were clean.

T: What are the rivers like now?

S2: They are dirty.

Step3. Presentation 1.

Tell a story of Gogo with some pictures

Listen to the story by the computer.

Teacher retells the story, and guides the students to fill in the missing words. Teacher teaches the new words several times. 4.

Play a game “Bomb game” to practice the words. 5.

Have Ss read the story together. 6.

Teacher asks some questions with the present tense of the story. Guide the students to ask some questions with the past tense of the story. E.g: Q1. T: What is the weather like now in Canada?

Have three students to ask me four questions. Ss: Where were you last summer holiday? T: I was in Hong Kong.

Ss: What was the weather like? T: It was sunny and hot. Ss: What was the food like? T: It was tasty.

Each group finishes the survey sheet. Three students ask four questions. The fourth student answers the questions and writes down the answers. (3)

Have some groups to show their dialogues.

Write a composition (1)

Teacher shows own composition. Last Summer Holiday Hello, I’m Miss Zeng. Last summer holiday, I was in Hong Kong with my family. It was hot. The food was tasty. I liked it very much. I played in

the Ocean Park. I took lots of pictures. I went sightseeing.

It was a good summer holiday.
