Story time I. Analysis of the Teaching Material The topic of this unit is “ My day ”. Such a topic is related to our daily life, so it is helpful to raise the students' learning interests. This lesson is a dialogue talking about the daily activities of Zip. In this lesson, students will consolidate and review the core vocabulary and sentence patterns of this unit.And students will to understand the meaning of collect nuts, dry nuts, eat nuts with help of pictures.

II. Learning Analysis The students in Grade 5 have learned English for more than two years. They can understand many words and some difficult sentences. They have strong interest and confidence in studying English now. Besides, they have learned part A and part B of this unit. So it’s easy for the students to understand this story.

III. Teaching Objectives 1. Knowledge objectives:

a. Students will be able to understand the meaning of collect nuts, dry nuts, eat nuts in this story by pictures.

b. Students will be able to understand the story. 2. Ability objectives: a. Students will be able to read this story.

VIII. Teaching Procedures Step1 Warm-up

1. Greetings. T: Good afternoon, everyone. Nice to meet you. Ss: Good morning, teacher. Nice to see you, too.

T: How are you today? Ss: Very well, thanks. 2.

Let’s chant.

“What do you do?”

（设计意图：在欢快的说唱中让学生轻松进入上课状态，chant中也是关于本单元学过的内容，帮助学生自然的过渡下一个复习环节。）

Step2 Review T:What’s do you often do on the weekend? Ss:I often/usually... （设计意图：根据已学过的内容师生对话，复习已学的动词词组和句型。）

Step3 Presentation and practice (T: Can you guess what does Mrs Fan usually do on the weekend? Ss: ...) 1.

The teacher present pictures of clean my room,read books,eat food(nuts) and students say the sentences. T:Do you know this food?Now let’s learn something about this food. （设计意图：通过猜测老师的周末活动，自然过渡到本节课的一些难理解的单词。）

The teacher present a picture of a nut, teach the word “nut”. Then the teacher teach nuts,collect nuts,dry nuts,eat nuts respectively

by present pictures and act.

（设计意图：通过图片和动作表演帮助学生理解一些动词词组，帮助学生做好阅读前的准备。）

(Divide students into four groups,if they answer the teacher’s question correctly and will gain a nut.)

Students read the phrases by themselves,then ask some students stand up and read the phrases. （设计意图：学生自己读，找学生读，帮助学生巩固动词词组。）

Watch and answer The teacher show students the video of first picture and ask “Is Zip busy?”, students answer. （设计意图：观看图片一的视频，通过一个简单的问题帮助学生理解整个故事的一个主线：Zip总是很忙.）

Watch and finish the timetable

Play the video of story time,students finish the timetable on the blackboard. T: If you can’t finish it, you can look at your book and read the story carefully. （设计意图：通过观看整个视频，完成黑板上的表格，帮助学生把握整个故事大意。）

Check answer The teacher present pictures(from the second picture to the sixth picture) respectively. There is a question after every picture. a.What does Zip usually do from Monday to Wednesday?

e.What does Zip this weekend?(have a show,play the pipa) f.When does Zip play the pipa?(Saturday, 12:00) Students read the dialogue of every picture follow the teacher after answer every question. （设计意图：通过分片段提问，学生分片段仔细阅读，回答问题，核对表格中答案，再次理解相关动词词组。）

Listen and repeat The teacher play the audio and students repeat after the audio. （设计意图：学生跟读模仿，培养学生听和读的能力。）

Consolidation and Extension 1.

What’s missing. The teacher present the whole story and the students fill in the missing words or phrase. （设计意图：合上书进行填空，检验学生是否理解故事大意。）

2.Act out the story (take out headwear) Students act the dialogue with their partner.

a. Act out the story with reading books.

b. Act out the story without reading books. The teacher asked some students come to the platform to act the dialogue out. （设计意图：设置不同层次的表演任务，让不同层次的学生都能体验表演故事的乐趣，让不同层次的学生都敢说，培养学生语言运用能力。）

3.Talk about your week The teacher give some useful sentence patterns and students talk about their week with their partner use these sentence patterns.

(设计意图：让学生讨论自己的一周，培养学生综合语言运用能力。）

Step5 Wrap-up Teachers and students retell the story according to Zip’s timetable together. T:This story tell us “we should learn to arrange our time and don’t be late.”

（设计意图：和学生一起根据表格复述故事大意，巩固所学内容，从而提醒学生要合理安排自己的时间和事情，记住自己的时间和安排，不能迟到。）

Step6 Homework 1. Listen and read the story.

2. Retell the story to your parents. （设计意图：引导学生在课外及时复习巩固已学知识，鼓励学生说英语，运用所学知识到现实生活中。）

Teaching Reflection In this period, the main point is to get the main idea of the story and understand the meaning of collect nuts, dry nuts, eat nuts in this story by help of the teacher and pictures.This is a story.So,students are very interested.In this lesson, I guided students to get the main line of the story by play a video and ask a question.Then the students mastered specific content by complete tasks. On the whole, my students have got the main idea of the story and they can act out the story. They were very lively and active in the class. However,I found some students are still unconfident and dare not to say.So,I will set up more kind of tasks to get these students take part in and boost their confidence.
