I. Analysis of teaching material In this lesson, students learn to say happy birthday to their family members and their friends. Students also learn some expressions which are often used on a birthday party. II. Analysis of students Students have learnt English for more than 3 months. They have known some English words and sentences. They are interested in topics closely linked to their daily life, so they will be interested in this lesson.

III. Teaching aims 1. Knowledge and skills: Students will be able to aurally understand, orally use and recognize the words: birthday cake, birthday gift, birthday party.

Students will be able to aurally understand and respond orally to the following sentence: Happy birthday! Thank you.

Students will be able to sing the song Happy birthday!

Students will become familiar with the rules of pronunciation for letters: k, g, f, v, e in words. 2. Process and method aims: Students actively take part in class activities to finish the tasks given by teacher. They learn new language by experiencing and participating.

3. Affect and value aims: Students learn to express their good wishes to other people. They are also supposed to respond properly when getting good wishes from the others.

IV. Key points and difficult points The key point is that students can aurally understand, orally use and recognize

the words: birthday, cake and party; sentences “happy birthday! Thank you!”

The difficult point is that students can use the expression in daily life.

V. Teaching process 1. Greeting and Warm-up: (1 minute) The teacher and students greet each other. They sing the song “I love you. You love me.” While singing, they also act out the song. (1 minute)

设计意图:This task helps create a happy and relaxing atmosphere for English study.

2. Review

(2 minutes)

The teacher asks some students to stand up and ask them one by one “how old are you?”

The teacher shows a picture of Danny and asks “How old is Danny?” Students give answers.

The teacher shows a picture of Li Ming and asks “How old is Li Ming?”

Students give answers. The teacher shows a picture of Jenny and asks “How old is Jenny?”

Students give answers by saying “Jenny is 9 years old.”

The teacher tells students “you are right! In Lesson 22, Jenny is 9years old, but today Jenny is 10 years old. Why? Try to guess it. ” students will say today is Jenny’s birthday.

设计意图:

Students review the key words and sentences in Lesson 22 through pictures. At the same time, the topic “ birthday” in Lesson 23 is led in.

3. Presentation of new lesson

3.1 New words

(6 minutes) T: Today we come to Lesson 23 Happy Birthday.

Please read after me. “birthday, birthday.” Students read one by one. Students read together.

Today is November 28th. Today is Jenny’s birthday. Think about your birthday and tell us what you eat on your birthday.

S: cake, birthday cake (in Chinese) T: Yes! Cake, birthday cake. Read after me. Students repeat. Cake, lake, face pay attention to the pronunciation of letter a in words.

T: besides birthday cake, you will also get gifts from family members or friends. Look at picture and read after me “gift, gift birthday gift. ” Students repeat.

Students say it one by one.

T: Good job! When celebrating birthday, we have birthday gifts, birthday cake and a birthday____. The teacher shows a picture of birthday party and teaches the new word “party.”

Students repeat.

are taught with the help of pictures which makes words learning interesting and easy to understand.

3.2 Practice (1minutes) Students do match exercises on PPT.

设计意图:Matching exercise helps check if students have mastered the words they just learnt.

3.3 New lesson for the text

(12 minutes) T: look at this picture, birthday party. Whose birthday party is it?

S: Jenny’s birthday party!

T: Yes, today is jenny’s birthday. Jenny has a party. Let’s come to Jenny’s birthday party and see what happens on her birthday party.

Open your books and turn to Page 58.

Look at Picture 1 and answer my questions. (1). Who do you see in Picture 1? Students give answer.

(2). How does Jenny feel?

Students give answer by saying Jenny feels_____.

(3). What do they say? Let’s listen.

Let’s repeat what they said.

Look at Picture 2 and answer my questions. How old is Jenny? Listen carefully.

Listen and repeat.

Look at Picture 3 and answer my questions. Listen and repeat. (1). What’s on the table? It’s a______. (2). What’s Danny thinking about? Suppose you are Danny and guess. You can speak Chinese.

Who can tell me? Good ideas!

Listen and repeat.

Look at Picture 4 and answer my questions. (1). Who are in Picture 4? What are they doing? Students answer. They are having a birthday______. (2). What’s Danny doing?

Danny gives Jenny a birthday____.

设计意图:Students can get more information by observing pictures, through which they can understand the story better.

设计意图:Students can practice the key words and sentence patterns when following the video. What’s more, following the video is an important way to correct students’ pronunciation and intonation.

Practice (10 minutes) Students watch the CD and follow it again. Students read by themselves. Students read together. Students read in roles with their partners. .

设计意图:This task helps students communicate with their partners. They also help each other while communicating.

4. Consolidation (3 minutes)

Students watch the video and learn the song “Happy birthday!”

The teacher teaches students to sing and act out the song sentence by sentence. Students follow the

CD and try to sing it together.

设计意图:

Singing helps students review the key words and sentences in this lesson through a relaxing method. Singing can also makes English study more interesting.

5. Letters and sounds (4 minutes)

Students try to read words on Page 59 and get the sounds of k, g, f, v and e.

Students listen to the tape and follow it.

6. Homework (1 minute)

Students sing the song “Happy birthday!” to their parents.

Students follow the tape of Lesson 23 three times after school. 设计意图:Following the tape is a good way to correct students’ pronunciation and intonation.

教学反思

本节课教学目标为单词,

句子:

学生们能说,会认,能听懂以上内容,在授课过程中,仍然存在着一些不足。

1. 在教授单词的过程中,教师要先范读,教师范读的过程中要求学生认真听,听准了再模仿跟读。在上课过程中,学生存在着盲目跟读的问题,教师应予以纠正。

2. 教授单词gift的过程中,要有从单数到复数的变化,先单数,再复数,使学生学习单词有个从易到难,循序渐进的过程。

3. 学生自己练习的部分用时不是太多,要加强学生练习的比重,学生才会成为学习的主体。

4. 在练习单词birthday cake, gifts, party的过程中,操练的方式过于机械,教师要试着变化单词练习的形式,从而提高学生学习的积极性

5. 在英语学习的过程中,教师要时刻记着创设英语的语境,例如,今天的主题是birthday,教师可以提前问问今天有没有人过生日;教授this gift is for you这一句子时,教师可以拿着礼盒,递给一个学生,跟她说这句话,再让他把礼物往后传,重复这句话,这样学生会在语境中学会单词与句型,做到会说会用。

6. 让学生观察图片,回答问题时,设计的问题不要过多,要恰到好处,把握对话的核心,提出相应的问题。

这次汇报课是我本学期第三次常态课展示,与第一次上课相比,我改进了许多,一个学期以来,整个英语组的老师们都在热情耐心地给予我指导,他们给出了我很多宝贵的建议,我试着把他们的建议用到教学实践中,教学效果良好。英语组是个团结友爱的组,一直在帮助我成长与进步。与自己相比,我取得了进步,但是与组里的其他老师相比,我差的还很远,还需要认真改进教学,虚心接受其他老师的建议与批评,促使自己不断进步。
