I.

Analysis of the teaching materials

This reading passage is the third reading passage of Module4 Book6, which is targeted at senior 2 students. The topic is Music from China

indicating the attractiveness of Chinese traditional culture. The content is about Twelve Girls Band and their features as well as their achievements. Some words like numerology and mythology

can be difficult to them but not very influential to the understanding of the passage.

II.

Analysis of the target students

Students are from senior 2 who have a comparatively higher level of English. They are expected to think and talk in English fluently but still need to be trained to think critically and logically.

Raise students awareness of respecting and promoting our Chinese traditional culture; 2.

T：It’s the first time we meet, so I want to introduce myself to you all before I start my class. I am from Shandong Province. I have been living in Sichuan Province for 4 years. I like Sichuan very much because I can enjoy delicious food (show students a picture of hotpot), beautiful scenery(a picture of Emei Mountain.) as well as amazing traditional culture(a picture of Face changing in

Sichuan Opera). Do you know other forms of Chinese folk music?

The teacher shows students pictures of Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera. T: But class do you often listen to Chinese traditional folk music? S:No.... T: No, I don’t think so. So what kind of music do you often listen to at your spare time?

S: ......(pop music, rock and roll...) T: Can you mention some famous singers or music bands today? S:... T: They are popular nowadays but today we are going to enjoy some different kinds of music. As you may guess, our Chinese Traditional Music. 设计目的：1. 以传扬传统文化作为视角来导入，激发学生学习英语的兴趣。2. 通过展示京剧昆曲等中国民间乐曲，联系到本课话题music from China。

Reading comprehension

T: Now let’s enjoy some charming music together. You should watch very carefully because after watching, I will you give you some questions. (Play the video and students watch the video)

Fast reading: The teacher encourages the students to read the passage as quickly as they can and search the information they need.

But, as a Chinese student, we should pass on our tranditions and cultural heritage. So, let’s try to introduce

them to people around us from today on.

设计目的：高二学生除了要培养其在文本解读和信息挖掘方面的能力之外，还应该培养其对篇章结构和作者写作意图的把握。

3. After Reading Activities

T: Firstly, let’s make a conclusion about what you have learned today. Conclusion:

It charms the people of many nations all over the world. In 2004 the group arrived on the US music scene at No.62 of the Billboard 200 album chart. Presentation: Divide the whole class into 6 groups and give each group a piece of paper with basic information on it. And then encourage them to work in groups to complete their introduction. T: Now I believe you can have a try to introduce this band.

Requirements：

Each of the 6 groups will have 3-5 minutes to complete your introduction according to the information I wrote on the piece of paper.

Each group should elect one member to show your introduction to the whole class. 设计目的：假定的情景符合高考书面表达的功能性语境。学生通过小组活动，根据老师给出的片段信息和自己对文章的细节信息的处理，来准确的介绍出女子十二乐坊的一个方面的信息。为课后任务做好铺垫。小组活动体现了语言的交互功能。

When students of each group are presenting their introduction, the teacher shows the information on ppt and sticks students’ ideas to the blackboard VII Homework T: With your introduction, I strongly believe that people will become more and more interested in Twelve Girls Band，but unfortunately we can seldom see their performance today. So let’s bring them back.

Task: Design a concert for them Your task is to design a slogan to attract audience to come into the arena to enjoy their performance. Requirements: 1. Your slogan can be words, phrases or sentences which should be attractive. 2. Your slogan should show the information you've learnt in this reading passage.

3. Choose the slogan you like best and give brief comments or evaluation.

设计目的：英语的学习不光要应付考试，还要学以致用，将所学内容应用的真实的生活中。设计女子十二乐坊音乐会的广告语，是要求学生对之前所学的信息进行提炼和在加工，是语言学习的较高要求。
