Teaching aims:

1.

Raise the pupils’ interests to learn English by playing games. 2.

Pupils will be able to talk about some jobs and what they want to be in the future.



Main points and difficult points: the new words: taxi driver, basketball player, singer, writer, artist the new sentence patterns:

1. A: What does he / she do?

B: He / She drives a taxi.

He / She plays basketball. He / She sings songs. He / She writes books. He / She draws pictures. 2. A: What’s his / her job?

B: He / She is a taxi driver…

3. A: What do you want to be?

B: I want t be a teacher…



Teaching aids: CAI, “chess” , dices, ect



Teaching steps:

Step 1. Warming up.

1.

Greetings. 2.

Sing a song.

Step 2. Revision.

Review some jobs they’ve learnt in the last lesson with some pictures which are shown very quickly, then the pupils should try to raise their hands to answer the questions as soon as possible.

Step 3.Presentation.

1. Teach the new contents:

A: What does he / she do?

B: He / She drives a taxi. A: What’s his / her job?

B: He / She is a taxi driver.

…

2. Practice in pairs and have free talks with some pictures. 3. Play a guessing game.

Some pupils come to the front and do some actions to let the other pupils guess what their jobs are.

4. Play “chess” with a dice.

The pupils are going to play “chess” from the starting point. Each step of the chess has got a question. They have to answer the questions. They should play it one by one. If someone couldn’t answer the question, he or she have to step backward for one step. The one who can get to the terminal point is the winner.

5. Teach

A: What do you want to be?

B: I want t be a teacher…

6. Practice in pairs using the uper sentence patterns.

7. Play a game in four.

One pupil should try to “sleep” on the desk asking “What do you want to be ?” Then one of the other three pupils will answer the question in a strange tone. Then the pupil who has asked the question should guess who answer his / her question.

8. Read a rhyme –

Driver, writer, singer, and cook,

What to do and where to work?

My father is a teacher,

My mother is a doctor,

I, I, I ,I, I,

I want to be a writer.

Step 4. Consolidation --- “Look for jobs”

Imagine the pupils are grown up and look for jobs. There are some jobs for them to choose. They will try to look for jobs if they are interested in them while some pupils invite applications for job. They should try to look for jobs as many as possible.

Step 5. Homework

Ask your classmates and friends what they want to be. And try to tell them what you want to be. Share the ideas with each other.
