⑴Find out the subject(主语) in each sentence.

1. A book is on the desk.

2. Smoking is bad for you.

3. To find a good job is my dream.

4. You are a student.

5. That we will be late is certain.

6. It is certain that we shall be late.

Step4: Distinguish the usages of that, whether/if and what.

【注意】that, whether/if, what

1. that 在主语从句只起引导作用，本身无实际意义，在主语从句中不充当任何成分，但不能省略。

2. whether/if "是否" 在句中不做成分，不可以省略，放在句首只能用whether, 不能用if.

3.what引导的主语从句除了起到引导从句的作用外，还要承担具体的意义，what还会作句子成分。

“头重脚轻”,常用

it 作形式主语,而把主语从句放在后

单个主语从句作主语时，谓语动词一般用单数形式。
