Teaching Steps：

Step 1. Warm up 1. Greeting T: Good morning, boys and girls. S: Good morning, Miss Wang. 2. Enjoy a song T: First, let’s enjoy a song: What are you doing? Ss listen. T: Can you tell me what are they doing? S: They’re cooking, eating, washing hands and watching TV. T: Wonderful. Let’s sing it together and do the actions. Ss sing.

Step 2. Presentation 1. Lead the topic T: Look, she’s cooking. And I’m cooking, too. I’m helping my parents.

My father and my mother are my parents. Ss read this words: parents one by one. T: I’m helping my parents. Are you helping your parents at home? S: Yes, we are. T: Good. We are helping our parents.(出示标题：Helping our parents,贴在黑板上) Choose one group students to read it one by one. Ss read after it.

2. 初读课文

a. T: We are helping our parents

What about them? Look! Who are they? S: They’re Mr Brown, Mrs Brown, Mike, Helen and Tim.(将人物图片贴在黑板上) T: Good. Do you have any questions for them? Ss try to ask.

T: Maybe we can find the answers from the story. Now listen and tick what are they doing? Ss: They’re cleaning the car, sweeping the floor, cooking breakfast and sleeping.

3.细读课文

a. T: We know what they are doing. Now please watch the cartoon, then open your books and try to fill in the blanks. Please tell me correctly. Ss fill in the blank. T: Now, let’s look, what is Mr Brown doing? S: He is cleaning the car. T: Good. What is Mrs Brown doing? S: She is cooking breakfast in the kitchen. T: What about Helen? Can you ask and answer like this?

PPT: What is … doing? He/She is …ing. Ss try. T: Good. What about Mike? What about Tim? Ss try to ask and answer in pairs.

b.T: Wonderful. Now let’s say it together. S: Mr Brown is cleaning the car.

Mrs Brown is cooking breakfast in the kitchen. Mike is helping his father. Helen is sweeping the floor. Tim is sleeping in his bedroom. T: Yes. Look at this blank. Can you find anything from this blank? Ss try to say。

T: When we try to say someone is doing something, we can use：subject, the verb be and present participle.

4. T: We know what they are doing in the morning. Now, open your books and turn to page 49, please read this part by yourselves, underline the key word, draw a mind mapping, and then tell me what they are doing in the afternoon. Ss try to draw. T: Now who can tell me what they are doing in the afternoon with your mind mapping. Ss try.

5. T: Good. We know what they are doing on Saturday. Let’s review. First one, please listen to me. Ss listen. T: Now let’s say it together. Ss try.

6. T: Now let’s check your marks and read after the tape. Ss read after the tape.

7. T: Next you can choose one way to read in groups. Ss read in groups.
