Teaching aims 1.

Make sure the students can apply grammar correctly and properly by doing exercises. (2)

Enable the students to grasp the way to analyse long and difficult sentences. 2.

Try to raise the students’ cooperative awareness in their study by group work. (2)

Help the students to know more about how to learn grammar,which can improve their reading ability. 

Use important grammar rules to analyse sentences correctly and properly. (2)

Help the students improve their reading ability by summarizing the rules of analysis of long and difficult sentences. 

Teaching procedures and ways Step I Lead-in and revision Using a sentence “He who is good at reading will conquer the world” to lead-in. (It can attract the students’ curiosity and draw their attention to the lesson.)

Having a revision of five basic sentences. Step II

Identify the main clause and subordinate clause in complex

sentences or the clauses in a coordinate sentence. The boy who tired and hungry got on board the delayed plane. The boy got on board the delayed plane which was bound for Sydney. The boy got on board the plane and soon it took off.

2.含有多个从句的复合句

until he appeared one night asking if he could sleep on the sofa. 3.含有插入语的句子

这种句子的特点是在正常的句子中插入一些或长或短的

成分或句子，比如同位语（从句）、非限制性定语从句、状语从句、分词、插入语等等，打断读者的思路，割裂前后之间的语义，造成理解上的困难。我们称之为“打岔”。有时有逗号或破折号分开。

4. 倒装句------确定主语, 调整语序, 把握大意。

5. 成分省略

------把握大意, 找出对应信息, 补充省略成分。

Reflection after teaching The design of this lesson is based on the task-based learning approach. The students play the leading part in every activity while the teacher is the guide and organizer. Make sure all the students will take a more active part in the tasks and become more confident.
