【教材分析】

本单元的主题是: plants。Reading部分介绍了the interesting world of plants，Listening部分讲述了一种特殊树种Strangler fig tree的生长过程，writing 部分要求学生描述一次植树活动，More reading 文章摘自报纸，介绍了三种常见植物（Jasmine, Yulan magnolia和golden ball cactus）的基本特征和习性，为种植这三种植物提供一定的指导。

1、文本特征

本文标题Learn to care for plants, 文章推荐了春天可供户外种植的三种植物，介绍了它们的基本特征及特殊习性，并配有图片。

文本特点

1）从文本语言来看，文中除植物名称外，没有太多生词，但文中出现了cover, grow 等词的不同用法，moist, tolerate, prefer 等描述植物习性的主题词汇，及blossom, litter，ideal 等常用词汇；还有三种提出建议的句型。

2）从文本结构来看，以“总——分”结构展开，第一段提出主题，接着分三段分别介绍三种不同植物的基本特征。

从文本内容来看，主要对春天可种植的三种不同植物基本特征及特殊习性进行描述，为植物的种植提供指导。

学情分析

通过对本单元的学习，学生对植物有了一定的了解。植物与同学们的生活息息相关，不少家庭都会养殖盆景，有的同学可能也有过养植物的经历，教师可以搭建脚手架，引导学生了解更多有关植物的特性，学会用英语进行正确表达，并思考如何照顾植物、爱护植物。

4、教学策略

1）

依托课文内容，学习目标词汇的主要用法，加深对文本的理解。

2）

通过补充阅读帮助学生了解更多植物的习性，并学会用英语进行正确的表达。

3）

通过造句、翻译、仿写等形式巩固新学词汇，思考如何照顾植物。

教学的重点与难点

1）指导学生熟悉并正确运用blossom, litter, cover, grow, tolerate, ideal、prefer等词汇。

引导学生思考如何照顾植物。
