Teaching Procedures Step 1. Lead-in: Review what we learned yesterday (Cloning and DNA)(3 mins)

1) Ask students what DNA is.

2) Review the advantages and disadvantages of cloning.

Step 2. Listening: What is gene editing ? (5 mins) 1)

Ask students what gene-editing is(in English). 2)

Listen to a short passage to find out what gene-editing is. 3)

Look at the script and listen to the passage again and fill in the blanks. 4)

Check the answers. 5)

Ask students to read the words after me.

Step 3. Discussion: Are you for gene editing? Why or why not?( 12 mins) 1)

Share a piece of news about gene editing with the students. 2)

Lead to the topic of gene editing and ask the students to discuss this topic. 3)

Ask some students to present their ideas about gene editing.

Step 4. Listening:Listen to a passage and find out other people’s opinions for and

Listen to a passage about other people’s opinions about gene editing. 2)
