Teaching steps

Let me know Step1 Review

1.

Greet the students using some daily expressions. T: hello, boys and girls! I’m SUCIE. Nice to meet you. Ss: hello, SUCIE. Nice to meet you, too. 2.

Lead in revising the prepositions by singing:

Where is the toy car? Is it on your desk? Where is the toy car? Oh, it’s on your chair. Where is the toy boat? Is it on your desk? Where is the toy boat? Oh, it’s on your chair. 3.

Revise the sentence patterns “Where is …?”

by talking with the students freely: T: look at the picture , Where is the school bag? Ss: It’s on the chair.

Step 2 Overview Task assignment: Talk show: This is my house. Design your idea house (or just show your own present house).

Try to introduce your house in front of the class.

To finish the task well, we should: 1. Learn to say the words of different rooms fluently and correctly: bedroom, study, living room, kitchen, bathroom, etc. 2. Learn to describe the house like this: The living room is big and clean. The table is blue. Some apples are on the table. I can read books in the living room.

3. Listen to the other students’ introduction carefully and find out the best designer and the best speaker. Give your reasons.

Step 3 Presentation 1.

Teacher presents the new words by showing some pictures.

T: If you are ready for the task, let’s go and have a look at Amy’s house.

Show a picture of a bedroom on the ppt.

Talk about the picture with the students. T: What can you see in this picture? Ss: I can see a bed, a ball, a … a picture. Etc. T: What’s this room?

Show the word: bedroom=bed+ room.

Read the word. Clue words: red, classroom

Show many bedrooms and talk about the pictures.

e.g. Ss: This is a big bedroom.

There is a TV in the bedroom.

The bed is in the bedroom. Etc.

Present the other words in the same way.

Teacher puts out the word card of “living room” and gives some words as clues: “give, giving, classroom”. Ss try to read the new word “living room” correctly by using the phonics.

Clue words for “kitchen”: it, kid, chair, bitten.

Clue words for “study”: fun, bun, funny.

Clue words for “bathroom”. Haha. thank, classroom. 3. Read the words and the expressions after the video.

Play the video, act and chant on Page 39:

Go to the living room. Watch TV. Go to the study, Read a book. Go to the kitchen. Have a snack. Go to the bedroom. Have a nap. Go to the bathroom. Take a shower. Do together. 2.Group work:

Teacher uses a match to lead the students learn to describe things. Rules: Divide the students in four groups. Show a picture. Each group tries to say sentences about the picture. See who can say more sentences. (每人至少说一句)

3.Pair work: Play a guessing game. One student describes a room. The other student listens carefully and guesses out what room it is. S1: It’s big and beautiful. There is a flower in this room. I can watch TV in this room. S2: Is it the living room?

S1: Yes. S2: I like this room. It’s not very big. There are many books in it. I can read books in it. S1: Is it the study? S2: Yes, it is. Play the guessing game like this in pairs. Have a show.

Step1. Look at the ppt and listen to the teacher. Teacher shows his/her own picture and gives a speech:

Look! This is my house. I have two bedrooms. They are big and comfortable. This room is the living room. There is a big TV in it. The flowers are on the table…. Step2. Describe your picture and write down the key sentences.

Check the works with each other in your groups. Step3. Give a speech in your group. Pay attention to the intonation and pronunciation.

Try to describe your house correctly and completely. Pay attention to the details. Step4. Choose the best designer and the best speaker.

The students can express themselves like this:

I like LiMing’s picture. It’s beautiful. I like his study very much.

I think LiMing is the best speaker. He says ten sentences! He is smart.2. What have we learned this lesson?
